I recently showed a version of the watch from this series and mentioned that the model is dedicated to the popular World War II fighter - Supermarine Spitfire.
In this model, the AVI-8 pays homage directly to the bomber's chief designer, Joseph Smith.
Watch design
When you take the watch in your hands, there is no doubt - this is a pilot's watch.
Very large dial markings stylized as an aircraft dashboard.
The side of the case has literally engraved wings.
And on the back of the watch, you can see the work of the Japanese mechanism with a custom pendulum in the form of a Spitfire.
Clock face
I want to pay special attention to the dial. It is gray in color and has several levels. The central part is seated a little deeper and has a 24-hour marking. And there is engraving K9787. The very first Spitfire model had this serial number.
The extreme part of the dial has a very large minute marking with pronounced numbers 0, 3, 6, 9.
The contrast of the hands, markers and dial is excellent. Readability is top notch. Plus the Swiss Super Luminova, which shines brightly in the dark.
Case quality
The body is made of 316l stainless steel with a dark gray IP coating. The quality of the finish is top notch. The case is almost completely satin, except for a thin strip of mirror polishing at the junction of surfaces.

Dimensions: Diameter - 42 mm, ear to ear - 50 mm, thickness - 14.5 mm, strap width - 22 mm, weight - 81 grams.

The fit on my 18cm arm is great. But according to my feelings, this is the minimum hand size for this watch.
Strap
The strap is made of natural gray leather. Neatly stitched with thread. I liked the quality. It is branded on the inside, has locks for adjusting the length and a simple but high-quality clasp.
Watch Specifications
According to the characteristics of the AVI-8 Smith Automatic AV-4090-04 Salisbury, the caliber of the movement was not indicated, but apparently this is a classic from the Japanese Seiko NH35A. 42 hours power reserve, there is a STOP second and manual winding.
The sapphire crystal is slightly domed and anti-reflective, and water resistant to 50 meters, which is a classic for aviator-style watches. Don't be afraid of the rain and wash your hands.
