Piece of art. Watch EPOS Oeuvre D'Art 3435.313.20.26.25
Wristwatch EPOS 3435.313.20.26.25
Hello everyone, you are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we will consider with you something really unique from a fairly young Swiss brand Epos.
When I first saw this watch, the first thing that came to my mind was the phrase: "A work of art." As it turned out later, the collection to which this model belongs is called Oeuvre D'Art, which literally translates from French as "A work of art."
I don’t like to talk about the history of watches for a long time, and to be honest, I myself am not very interested in delving into the past of brands. Therefore, let me briefly, as far as I can, explain to you what the Epos brand is and what it is today.
A short history of the EPOS brand
The brand is quite young, the beginning of its history dates back to 1925. Epos, like many brands, had a difficult time going through the times of the quartz crisis, and its second stage of development can be considered from 1983.
If you know what a “microbrand” is, then I would call Epos a microbrand in the world of Swiss watches. By itself in quotation marks.
What does this actually mean?
This means that in the rather overloaded and competitive Swiss watch market, the Epos brand has to do something really unique, of very high quality and for quite nice sums.
If the same Tissot, Longines are on everyone's lips, then how many of you have heard of the Epos brand? That's right, the brand is not so bursting, so it has to make more efforts in order to hook you not with the name, but with quality and some innovative features.
Therefore, the output is some incredible models from the category of the one that I will show you today in this review.
I want to note right away that I do not see this watch as a model for everyday wear. Rather, these watches are suitable for some unique event or special occasion, when it is extremely important for you to emphasize your status and individual style.
And I also see such a watch as a collector's item, which in general can never be worn on the hand, but at the same time never stop admiring it.
Perhaps for some of you it will be wildness, but there are collectors who buy unique watches and never wear them.
Limited edition model
And the uniqueness in this watch is really present. Firstly, this is a limited edition, released in the amount of 888 copies in the world. This information is indicated on the blue plate on the right side of the dial. We have a review of 511 model from the release.
Secondly, this is a unique dial, half of which is an open part of the movement, and the other half resembles a miniature of a vintage, pocket watch or a smaller version of a grandfather clock.
Thanks to this design, the watch ceases to be just a watch and becomes a “work of art” when you just want to admire it.
Mechanism
The eta unitas 6497 movement is installed inside this watch. It goes without saying that this is not the basic version of the movement. This means that Epos has been additionally processed to give it a more expensive exterior and made some modifications-complications.
Movement Features
One of these modifications is the second hand placed in a small window on the back of the watch. Moreover, this hand is a heart rate monitor. In order to use this function, you need the arrow to start moving from zero division, after which you need to measure 20 heart beats and look at the mark that the arrow will show. This will be your current heart rate.
Of course, I think that this function is somewhat inconvenient and to some extent useless, like the same tachometer function in a watch, but we are well aware that this watch is not about convenience and not about practicality. Here is more about true vintage and a reference to analog times.
I would like to note that the movement eta unitas 6497 has a power reserve of 50 hours, operates at a reduced frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and is not self-winding.
I can’t say that this somehow confuses me in this watch, since their style sends us back to analog times, where there was no talk of automatic winding. That is, from the point of view of style, everything is done correctly here.
As for the outer finish of the mechanism, I note that Epos got confused in earnest. To some extent, this is truly a piece of jewelry, and its result is the mesmerizing effect of the dial.
Watch case and strap
The watch case itself is made of stainless steel with a mirror finish.
The body is quite large, plus it is very important that the ears are long here.
Dimensions
Dimensions: Case diameter - 42 mm, ear to ear - 51 mm, thickness - 10.5 mm, weight - 99 grams.
watch on hand
In general, on my wrist 18 cm. In the girth, the watch sits perfectly. The ears clearly envelop my brush. But on a smaller hand it will already be in question.
The strap is made of genuine leather. The quality is excellent. Plus, I was very pleased with the butterfly clasp. Frozen even on the interior decoration. The guilloching here is just perfect.
Also available on a stainless steel bracelet. Personally, purely in style, the bracelet seems a little out of place to me, but from the point of view of practicality, there is even a certain sense in buying a watch with a bracelet, and then changing it into a custom genuine leather strap. It will definitely be cheaper than buying a bracelet separately on occasion.
By the way, you can buy this watch with an official 2-year warranty both in our Feeltime online store and in the network of our partners Deka - the largest watch network in Ukraine.
Other characteristics
Of the unnamed characteristics of the watch, I note the sapphire crystal, which is scratch-resistant and water-resistant at 50 meters. You can wash your hands and not be afraid of rain. This is an absolute norm for watches in a similar style.
Results
Summing up, I want to say that the price of this model in our stores is 85400 UAH, which is equivalent to $2100 today.
And if you go back to my initial speech, then for the money Epos offers something incredible in terms of design and quality. This is truly a work of art. This is definitely not a watch for every day, rather, a sophisticated fan of watches will buy this watch in order to replenish his collection with something unusual, and to some extent defiant.
If you are considering buying your first watch, then this option is definitely not for you, although I'm sure you were pleased to admire it. Or maybe not, since the watch is still for its lover.
Write in the comments how you like this model, share your opinion, and that's all for me. With you, as always, was Stanislav. See you again. Bye
