The Marathon 41mm Arctic Steel Navigator w/ Date WW194030SS-0530 model belongs to the line of watches for pilots and its design dates back to 1986, when the first Marathon watches were developed for Kelly Air Force Base.
This watch is meticulously crafted. Its large case is made of Parkerized 316L stainless steel. This coating makes the metal more resistant to impact and corrosion, and also reduces glare, which is crucial for tactical watches.
Despite the limited water resistance of just 100 meters, the crown is screwed down for better water resistance.
The dial is perfectly legible with tritium tubes on the hands and hour markers. The tritium requires no recharge and remains luminous in the dark for up to 25 years. The dial is covered with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
The bezel is also well-designed. It has a great grip, allowing the pilot to easily operate it in both directions, even while wearing gloves.
The model is equipped with an expensive Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with an Incabloc® shock absorber for additional protection against vibration and shock. It has 26 jewels, a 41-hour power reserve, and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
