Americans in German style HEMEL HF18

Friends, hello everyone, you are on the Feeltime watch channel, and today I continue the series of reviews of the American microbrand Hemel.

For me, the brand is primarily interesting because it offers quite affordable models with a pronounced German school.

The Germans are very serious guys when it comes to making military and aviation watches. And if you know their style, you will never confuse it with anything.  

But well-known and high-quality Germans cost quite a lot of money. In this regard, Hemel can be a more affordable alternative, but in an American format.  

In general, most Hemel models are quite similar. And that's not bad. That is, the brand has chosen one point, and is hitting it. And why not. Especially if you like this style.  

It's just that the Hemel brand gives you the opportunity to choose different variations of the same model. There can be different bezels, different types of mechanisms, different filling of dials.

All Hemel watches come in a fairly simple orange box. The kit will include a booklet with the Hemel model range, and a nice gauze for caring for the case and glass of the watch.  

You know the more I shoot these watches the more I like them. All the same, this is more of an achievement of the Germans themselves, because the style is so pronounced, these watches look so original.  

On the one hand, they are simple, and on the other hand, they are very brutal and masculine.

I really like the quality realized in that simplicity. Now is such a time that everyone wants to stand out somehow. Therefore, there are a lot of really daring watches in terms of design. Brands produce bright dials. Such a peacock effect.

However, we do not forget that we, although intelligent, are animals on the highest stage of evolution.

Again, everyone wants to stand out.  

But you can also stand out in different ways. This watch attracts attention if only because it is unlike any other. Because, I repeat, German stylistics is such that it is impossible to confuse it with something else.  

And this is a good example of how a watch looks simple on one side, but looks nothing like it on the other. And that's cool.  

The body of this model is made of stainless steel 316l. Completely satin like I like.  

Great build quality for the money.  

The buttons are a nice size. Tactilely rough, which is good, and works with clear clicks, which is also very good.  

In general, this model is equipped with an unusual Japanese Seiko movement with the VK64 caliber. This is soft quartz. This type of quartz seems to imitate mechanics. That is, the second hand of the chronograph moves smoothly, like a mechanic.  

Many would like the mechanics, but it should be noted that a lot rests on the design here.  

Here is a classic panda. It also needs a chronograph. And mechanical chronograph history is not cheap. I think that the Hemel brand did not want to go beyond a certain price range. Also, putting soft quartz on this watch is an economically sound decision.

A very unusual solution with a bezel. It spins at 120 clicks but has nothing on it but a zero mark. I have never seen anything like that.  

Appropriately, the idea came to mind that you can make your own engraving on such a bezel, making the watch even more unique.  

The back cover is simple. And if I really want a good engraving on a diver's watch, this conservative style doesn't need it.  

You can see the listed characteristics, so let me voice them.  

It is sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating.

It's water resistant to 100 meters, which is great for a style like this. Usually 50 meters.

The dimensions are as follows

Diameter - 42 mm, from lug to lug - 49 mm, thickness - 13.3 mm, weight - 96 grams.

On my hand 18 cm in volume fit perfectly. But it will be even better on a more massive wrist.  

What really sets this watch apart is the leather strap. Fireworks quality. Pleasant color, very nicely stitched with a thread, despite the thickness.  

And we have two stainless steel rivets on each side of the strap, which is a signature element of aviator watches.  

Dial with a strongly expressed retro style.  

Black, resinous color. White marking, which contrasts well with black.  

Detailed minute markings on the edge of the dial. Next comes the large Arabic hour markers.  

2 small dials of the famous panda.  

There is no date and that is very good. They tried to make this dial as strict and concise as possible, taking into account the presence of a chronograph. And the brand succeeded.  

Swiss Super Luminova on hands and markers.  

The price of this watch is currently 19,250 hryvnias.  

In terms of price, it can be adequately compared only with German watches, which are usually much more expensive.  

Also, if you say that with this money it is better to buy, for example, a diver's, mechanical watch - then it will not be correct. Because a person who wants a watch of the German school, it is clear that he is looking for just such a watch, and not a diver's watch.  

And in front of you, although he is an American, he really perfectly conveyed the aviation, German style.  

Looks good, great quality. On the one hand, it is simple, and on the other, it is high-quality and stands out among the others in a good way.
