The brand itself is owned by the same owner as Spinnaker. Only Spinnaker went more into the subject of diving, vintage watches, and AVI-8 is narrowly aimed at aviator style, and almost all of their models are dedicated to military fighters of the Second World War.  

Specifically, our model is dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane fighter. This is a British, single-seat fighter, developed in 1934 and received its use just during the war years.  

I want to note that the AVI-8 brand makes watches in the British style. Today, a rather fashionable direction of watches, especially among microbrands.   Plus, the British Air Force during the Second World War was very strong.

Our models differ in the color of the dial, markings on it and the color of the strap.  

Moreover, if the difference in the color of the markup and the strap is obvious, then it is more difficult with the dials. They are both black. But one is black-black, and the other with some lighter shade.  

I suggest immediately with the dials and start.

I showed this watch to my friend, he rejected it. Said they look like toys.  

I would say that there is some kind of toy, but this is what gives the watch a certain chip.  

The plate itself is made in the texture of clouds and looks voluminous. Plus volume is well added by overhead watch marks.  

The AVI-8 logo is applied, plus there is an inscription at the bottom of the dial, which was also on the Hawker Hurricane fighter.  

Please note that the fighter has a tricolor, which you can also see at the 12 o'clock position. And the shape of the plane itself is in miniature on the counterweight of the second hand.  

It seems to me that the guys did a good job with the details. The dial is interesting. I don't know why my friend didn't like it.  

In another model, we have milk markings, plus the date here on a black backing.  

It's an amateur thing, of course.  

I like the first option better. Write which one you like best.

If we talk about the design as a whole , then this is an absolutely classic, pilot's watch.  

A large case, a huge bulb crown, so that time was easy to manipulate even in pilot's gloves.  

And the dial itself, of course, is large, with large markings, and is perfectly readable. This is again part of the aviator style.  

The sizes are as follows .

Diameter - 46 mm, ear to ear - 56 mm, thickness - 14 mm, weight - 90 grams

On my arm 18 cm. In girth I thought they would be huge, but no, they look quite adequate. Although of course you should understand that the clock is big.

The watch case is fully satin finished. Mirror polishing is on the edges of the head and on the welt to give the watch more volume.  

The welt itself smoothly passes into a slightly convex sapphire crystal.  

The quality of the finish for the price of this watch is good.

The back cover of the watch, though with a not deep, but pleasant engraving.  

Genuine leather straps . The quality is pleasant. The case has a wide strap, narrowing slightly towards the clasp. There is embossing along the contour and spot stitching with a thick thread. It's the little things that make it look more presentable.

Unfortunately, the official website does not indicate what mechanism is in this watch, but I have a 99% version that it is Miyota 8215 from Citizen, which is already a little outdated and does not have a STOP second.  

The water resistance of our watches is 50 meters, which is an absolute classic for aviator models. You can wash your hands in them and not be afraid of the rain. No more.

Results

The full price of this model today is 14965 UAH, but at a discount both colors are now sold for 12300 UAH.

I would like to say that for such a price segment we have quite interesting pilot's watches with a recognizable design due to well-designed dials, we have a good quality finish and quite nice straps.  

Therefore, there is a classic story here when you buy watches from a micro-brand and get more quality than popular brands will offer you for the same money. And noticeably more.
