I think that these two models can be excellent contenders for the first model in your collection under $1000.  

Usually the task of such watches is to be universal. And we have just a casual watch that will be in time for both a suit and a T-shirt with denim shorts.  

At the same time, all the watches are from well-known brands, which, by the way, belong to one owner of the Swatch Group, the watches are very worthy made, watches with excellent mechanisms.

I ask you not to take this as a battle. Friendship will definitely win here. Both models are very worthy, and which one will appeal to you - do not forget to write in the comments.

The first is Certina from the DS-1 collection, the second is the Hamilton Jazzmaster.

In terms of design, I tried to choose the most similar watches. Here, the shapes are almost identical and the dimensions of the cases are 40 mm.  

Our Sertina is a little simpler and more accessible, let's start with it.

Rather, with its configuration.  

We have a new type of box made from recycled ocean waste. Sertina has already supported a lot of programs to protect the oceans from pollution, for which, of course, thanks to them!

The set also includes a nice case for transporting the watch. The thing is useful and may well come in handy in everyday life.

Our model originally comes with a textile strap, again made from recycled ocean waste.  

The bracelet that is now on the watch is officially listed as a bonus. Although this is certainly a bit of a strange move. Usually the bracelet is like the main one.  

I really like the design . The elegant round shape combined with the dial make this watch as recognizable as possible.  

Overall, I think that Sertina has one of the best everyday models. With this watch, the guys just hit the bull's-eye.  

The body is made of 316l stainless steel. The sides are beautifully polished with a volumetric bulge on the central part of the surface. The ears are satin-finished and also have a complex shape with several edges and bevels.

The crown is without protective sills, which gives the design of the watch some vintage.  

And if you change this watch into a leather strap, then the vintage will become frank.  

Sapphire glass. With external and internal antiglare. The shape is the perfect continuation of the welt. Slightly convex.  

The sizes are as follows :

Diameter - 40 mm, ear to ear - 47 mm, thickness - 11 mm, weight - 127 grams. I measured the weight on the bracelet. On the strap itself will be much easier.  

On my arm 18 cm. In girth they sit like a glove. I confess that I chose for review those models that I myself would wear with pleasure.  

The bracelet is again a classic for the Certina brand. Yes, and the bracelet has its own recognizable design.  

He is a 5 link. The outer links are satin finished, the central links are polished. Butterfly clasp.  

There are no complaints about the bracelet. It is well made and complements the body perfectly.  

The quick change system allows you to quickly change your watch into a textile strap. Or leather, which you can make yourself at the master.  

Well, let's look at the dial .  

Everything here is in the best traditions of Sertina. Signature, slightly curved plate to the edges, which creates a chic volume and expensive appearance.  

The color of the dial is a delicate color of the sea wave.  

The applied wedge-shaped markers and sword-shaped hands are beautifully polished, gilded and harmoniously woven into the overall design.  

The Sertina logo is also applied and is located at the top of the dial. Like the name of the DS-1 collection, which is located below.  

There is a date at 3 o'clock.

And finally, let's talk about the characteristics .

On board this watch is so dearly loved by many. Powermatic 80 with caliber 80.611, a huge power reserve of 80 hours, powered by 23 jewels and has a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.  

And of course, the Nivachrone anti-magnetic spring, resistant to various shakes.  

This is a mechanism WITHOUT plastic parts, as many people experience.  

You can admire the mechanism through the back cover. The truth is, I think that there is nothing special to admire. Everything is just neatly done.  

The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, which is an excellent indicator for everyday watches. You can even swim in them without diving.  

Well. Now our handsome Hamilton Jazzmaster .  

This watch comes in a classic Hamilton box. She's nice and small. I won't say much more.  

The watch certainly looks amazing. Again, you'll never mistake their design with the signature cutout on the dial, through which you can soothe your anxiety while admiring the smooth operation of the mechanism.  

There are different versions of the colors of the dial and the “strap-bracelet” configuration . You can buy each of them in my Feeltime online store.

I want to say that the case of this watch is made at the highest level. And it is clearly more difficult than that of Sertina. Just look at the side faces, which combine a mirror finish in the central part, and satin finish on the lugs and lugs.

Moreover, mirror polishing is in the form of a thin strip between the side and upper surface of the ears and on the welt.  

The quality of the finish for this price is impeccable. The eye simply rejoices!

The crown, like that of Sertina, without protective influxes. And here again, you can give the watch a pleasant vintage by changing it to a leather strap.  

The sizes are identical with the gray.

Diameter - 40 mm, ear to ear - 47 mm, Thickness - 11 mm. It's just more weight. 148 grams. And it is palpable.  

This is how it sits on my hand. Excellent watch.  

This watch has an incredible and intricate bracelet.  

Firstly, it is quite thick, which gives it brutality. The location of the links also gives brutality.  

Each link is satin-finished, but on the side faces it has a mirror-polished jewelry strip. These are the little details that distinguish expensive watches from not expensive ones.  

Butterfly clasp. Very confident, beautiful and comfortable.  

Let's look at the dial .

I love the green color that smoothly flows from the center to completely black at the edges.  

The wedge-shaped, overlaid marks and arrows of the swords are very similar in style to the elements of Sertina. Still, it is felt that the brands belong to one owner.  

The cutouts perfectly emphasize the style of the dial.  

There was a discussion here yesterday about whether a date is needed or not. I said she'd fuck up everything. And the seller said that it is not enough. Egor, hello to you. No offense:)

Mechanism

This watch is powered by its own H10 movement, which is based on the ETA C07.611 and is essentially the same Powermatic 80 as Sertina's. Exactly the same characteristics.  

The only thing I like more is how it all looks through the back cover. Firstly, the cover itself is more effective. On 4 screws. Plus the rotor is engraved with the brand. It's nicer than Sertina's print.  

The water resistance of the watch is 50 meters, which is less than the Sertina, but there is nothing to worry about. It's a casual watch, it's just not designed for swimming.  

Results

Well, I'm ready to sum up and perhaps I'll start with the prices.

Sertina in Ukraine today is sold for UAH 34,470, which is equivalent to $907 dollars at the current exchange rate, but Hamilton for UAH 49,430, which is equivalent to $1,300.

The price difference is $400.  

Each of these models for its price is to some extent ideal. I did not see any shortcomings for myself.

Sertina is good starting from the case, bracelet and their polishing, ending with the mechanism.

Plus, it's nice that the kit already has a replacement strap.  

Hamilton for my money, I would call impeccable. I will emphasize again. Sertina are good and Hamilton are flawless.  

In this word, I put a chic design, a complex case and a bracelet with a perfect polish, which can be in this budget.  

Beautiful dial with branded cutouts and a well-proven mechanism.  

Despite the fact that these watches belong to the same company Swatch Group, they have the same dimensions, the same style, the same mechanism - they are still different.
