Epos Sportive vs Maurice Lacroix Aikon

Friends, hello everyone. You are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always. And today we will have a small battle between two young Swiss brands Epos and Maurice Lacroix .

There are many patterns between these two models and brands.

The Epos brand was founded in 1925, but began to gain real power in the 1980s.

Maurice Lacroix as an independent brand was founded in 1975, but before that the company dealt with silk and collaborated with such giants as Audemars Piguet, TAG Heuer and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Therefore, in terms of history, we have plus or minus equal brands.

How are they similar?

Both models are made in a casual, casual style, belong to the affordable luxury, have the same case size of 42 mm, integrated bracelets, the same movements, despite the fact that Maurice Lacroix claims his own (I will explain this during the review).

So I think our little battle is quite fair. Be sure to read to the end, where I will draw conclusions. Plus, don't forget to share your opinion in the comments. It will be interesting to read.

Purely stylistically, of course, there are differences. Epos is more sporty for me. Of course, this perception is primarily played by the semi-skeletonized dial.

Plus protective flows at the crown.

And the bracelet itself visually looks more brutal.

Maurice Lacroix is still more concise and restrained.

The dial is a pure costume suit, plus a more elegant texture to the bracelet and the absence of sporty features such as protective flares at the crown.

Although I want to make it clear right away that Epos position these watches as casual ones. And even in the photo of this watch you can see that they are worn under a jacket.

By the way, in Ukraine, 3 versions of this model are available today. 2 on bracelet, one in gold-plated case with rubber strap.

Two versions are still sold at a very decent discount.

My Feeltime store is a partner of the official distributor of Epos watches in Ukraine, so you can buy any of these models from me with a 2-year warranty

Maurice Lacroix is also a pure suit. It's just more strict in my opinion.

There are different color options and configurations available. The rubber strap version, for example, will make this watch already more sporty.

Again, there is plenty to go around.

You can also buy any of the available versions in my Feeltime online store.

Equipment

Let's say a few words about the configuration.

Epos has a nice leather box.

Maurice Lacroix has a plastic box of about the same size.

I definitely like Maurice's box more in terms of quality.

Let's see the quality of the Epos case .

Forms are sharp, chopped, brutal.

The main part of the coating is satin. There is mirror polishing on the welt, the side transition of the upper part of the lugs, on the massive head and on the heads of the screws that secure the bracelet.

The case back is satin-finished and through it you can admire the Sellita SW200 movement. About him a little later.

I really like the quality of the finish.

Dimensions are as follows

Diameter - 42 mm, from ear to ear - 51 mm, Thickness - 10.4 mm declared by the brand, although I measured 10.8 mm, weight - 178 grams.

On my hand 18 cm. They sit perfectly in girth!

The bracelet immediately clearly goes to the bottom, so the watch licks my wrist almost perfectly.

Maurice Lacroix's body also has sharp, chopped forms. Again, a combination of satin and mirror polish on the 6th welt hills.

Also, mirror polishing is implemented in the form of elegant transition strips from the side to the top and to the bottom surface of the case. Plus there are mirrors on the crown.

The back cover is smarter than the Epos. She's on screws. The mechanism is also visible through the transparent glass, but here the decoration of the mechanism and branding are already better. It's definitely more fun to watch.

I like Maurice Lacroix more in terms of quality finishes. And I think it's completely subjective.

The sizes are as follows :

42mm diameter, lug to lug 48mm, thickness 11mm, same weight as Epos. 180 grams.

This is how it sits on my hand. Due to the shorter ears look more elegant.

Epos has a wonderful, integrated bracelet . Integrated means that it looks like an inseparable part with the body.

We can see the satin finish and mirror polishing on the bevels of the side links, which gives a nice volume.

The geometry of the bracelet is excellent.

The clasp is a little disappointing. Inside it is cast and everything is fine, but the outer part is folding with a latch (stamped). In terms of convenience and reliability, everything is fine, but the appearance is very old-fashioned.

The Maurice Lacroix bracelet is also integrated. Here everything is the same for decoration. Satin finish and mirror finish bevel on link sides.

Geometry again without question.

I definitely like the clasp. This is a "Butterfly" that hides the fastening mechanism and creates a more holistic look of the bracelet.

Plus, Maurice Lacroix made a quick bracelet replacement system, which can definitely be considered a plus.

The Epos dial is conditionally divided into 2 parts.

The outer part rises a little. This is a plate on the extreme circumference. I would rather call her color purple. Although at some viewing angles in real life it may even seem black.

Overhead watch marks. In the lower part we see a ledge with the brand and the country of watch production - Switzerland.

The central part is skeletonized. As far as I understand, Epos modified the mechanism a bit with unobtrusive patterns to give the watch more gloss.

The hour and minute hands are in tone with the hour markers, but the second hand is faded orange. To be honest, it merges a little with the dial. This is probably good, so as not to draw too much attention to yourself.

And of course the Swiss Super Luminova. We look.

Maurice Lacroix has a diametrically different dial .

Laconic, black surface with a pattern, as the brand "Clous de Paris" calls it.

Slim, applied hour markers and logo.

All marks, like the arrows, are radiated and do not corrode over time.

Date at 3 o'clock on a black backing. Doesn't draw too much attention. This is good.

And also the Swiss Super Luminova.

I'm closer in spirit to the Maurice dial. What do you think? Write in the comments which one you would choose.

Mechanisms

So we got to the mechanism.

On board the Epos is the Swiss workhorse SW200, proven over the years, with a small power reserve of 38 hours, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Maurice Lacroix claims to have his own ML115 movement, but in fact it is still the same slightly modified SW200 with a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

We can say that under the hood we have the same thing. The only thing is that Maurice still visually at least did a better job on the finish. Here they have the upper hand.

According to other characteristics, we have sapphire glass in one and the other model.

But Maurice's water protection is diving. It is 200 meters and the head is screwed down for better tightness.

Epos has 100 meters and the head does not screw, which is a little strange, since purely visually with protective influxes it suggests that it is screwed just at Epos.

I'm ready to sum up .

The price of the Epos in Ukraine today is 69600 UAH, Maurice Lacroix - 94710 UAH.

The difference is 25110 UAH.

And if you consider that one of the Epics is also at a serious discount, then all 46 thousand

Anyway. Discount is like that. Not permanent. We will not turn away from her.

What did I see?

Two wonderful Swiss models that follow the same direction. This is a casual watch for every day and for any dress code.

The sizes are identical.

Epos are a little more brutal and sporty, Maurim Lacroix is a little more elegant and a little closer to the official style.

The quality of the finishes in Maurice Lacroix is slightly better. Personally, I liked the dial of Maurice Lacroix more, and the design of the watch is somehow closer to me.

Still, he winds up the skeleton a little with antiquity, and Maurice looks really very fresh. I like it.

Mechanisms - you can say identical workhorses. Only Maurice worked harder on the decoration.

Plus, do not forget that Maurice has significantly higher water protection.

As for branding itself, according to my observations, Maurice Lacroix is still more popular. Many do not quite understand what Epos is.

Therefore, here the advantage is also on the side of Maurice.

Despite the fact that they seem to be so similar, with all this they are very different.

Epos more brutal, Maurice more elegant.

Yes, Maurice bypasses a little in almost all respects. But I can not say that these are the things that will greatly affect your choice. It's more about the look here.

I like Maurice better. And you? Write in the comments.

Each of these models can be purchased with an official 2-year warranty in my Feeltime online store.
