Purple dials. A new trend?

I can't remember ever seeing a watch with a purple dial until 2024. But everything seemed to change in an instant.

For me, this moment started with the release of a model from the microbrand Phoibos from the Wave Master collection. One of the colors was purple. And I immediately liked it so much that I bought this watch for myself (of course, not only because of the dial).

No doubt, I wasn't the only one who liked this color. It sold better than the classic green and blue. After that, the same Phoibos started to feature purple dials in all new collections.

And not only Phoibos. Purple models immediately appeared at Spinnaker, and at the Italians Venezianico. Even the conservative Swiss seemed to realize that it was a hot topic, but they had to try it, so purple colors began to appear in new products at the famous Hamilton and the same Maurice Lacroix.

In general, I have concluded for myself that the color purple has a good effect on the psyche. It is precisely it that calms me.

What's interesting is that it has duality and is crossed with red and blue. That is, red is more about emotionality and aggression, while blue is about silence and peace.

And it's also interesting that in ancient times, only the rich and monarchs wore purple clothing, because it was very expensive to obtain.

So, today I will show you beautiful models with purple dials.

And the first one will be the one that started the whole story. It's Phoibos from the Wave Master collection. A real hit of the brand.

The first edition of this model was in 42 mm size and only on a rubber strap.

By the way, at the very beginning, the first edition did not have any purple colors. More standard, with the exception of the version with a dial made of abalone shell.

It was only later that Phoibos added the purple color, after the success of the smaller version.

If the watch's strap size was 42 mm, this one has already been reduced to 39.5 mm, which is what won me over, because for me, 42 is too big for today, for example.

The color scheme of the watch is simply gorgeous!

The purple color softly transitions into black and ends with a solid black bezel with a ceramic insert.

The quality of the watch's finish impressed me. The beautiful satin finish of the case with mirror-polished transitions between surfaces for greater volume.

The back cover is decorated with a deep Octopus logo - the brand's logo.

The bracelet is made beautifully. Complex geometry, beautiful finish. There is a quick-change system, and a fully molded "clapper" clasp with a diver's extension.

Another beauty with a purple dial is the Italian Venezianico from the Arsenale collection .

This model gained great momentum in 2024 and the first edition was in purple.

Many thought that a conditional clone of the Tissot PRX would be released, but in fact Veneziancio released a completely unique model with a bracelet integrated into the case, dedicated to the Arsenale military building, which is now a museum in Venice + in the form of an engraving on the back cover of this watch.

What I like about this watch is that you can see mostly satin finish everywhere, but it is highlighted with thin strips of mirror polish, so the watch shimmers at different angles and because of that it looks really expensive.

We can say that Venezianico made a very thin model with this watch. Only 8.95 mm. For comparison, the same 40 mm Tissot PRH has a thickness of 11 mm. That is, 2 millimeters larger.

The dial is decorated with Geneva waves. We are used to seeing them, for example, on the finishing of the movement, but definitely not on the dial, so it looks definitely fresh.

We're a little used to the purple dial. But the functionality surprised me. I've never seen anything like this before this watch.

Here's another Phoibos model from the Voyager collection, which was released recently. This is a fundamental, old collection of the brand, but it is constantly updated and this model is the latest revision to date.

And they didn't pass by the color purple.

By the way, please note that purple is often mixed with black, because it looks very harmonious.

In this case, a pure purple dial with a black bezel.

In terms of form, this model, if you remove all the details, would be very similar to the Rolex Submariner. But it is the details that have been licked so that it feels like a completely different watch.

Although you can certainly look at them as an affordable alternative to Rolex.

The characteristics of Phoibos are always top-notch, but what's unusual is that this model started with water resistance of 300 meters, and now they've lowered it to 100 meters.

I think the brand realized that this watch is not for diving purposes. But the crown screws on, so you can still swim.

The latest model from the Phoibos brand that arrived, you could say, almost straight from the plane.

Last, let's look again at the Italians Venezianico with their Nereide diving collection .

If the previous watches were more costume-like, this one is a bright, handsome thug. Although it can be calmed down a bit. I'll show you how later.

Despite its masculine design, this watch is very carefully crafted. The workmanship is at a high level, as is the detailing.

On the back cover is an engraving of the submarine "Nereide", which was in service with Italy in World War I and after which the collection is named.

And this is the model that the Italians have very functionally loaded with.

I said that you can calm down the watch a little. You can buy a branded Canova bracelet for it. In fact, it will change the perception of the watch a lot. If it is definitely not a suit, then with a bracelet it can easily become one.
