Tissot Seastar 2000 watch

Friends, I welcome everyone to my channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we will talk about the thunderstorm of the Tissot Seastar 2000 diving watch.

More than a year ago I reviewed the youngest, 1000th series. Trying to remember what was so remarkable about those watches, I note that first of all, of course, it was the design.

If you're interested in watching that review, I'll leave the link below.

If you follow my channel, you know that I am skeptical about Tissot. I think that the guys from the Swatch Group are the most well-promoted in the budget segment, and the most economical, which is most likely a consequence of that very publicity.

But I promise you that I will review this without bias. In the end, at first glance I like the watch.

Let's go through the model itself. Let's lower the box. This is Tissot's original packaging. As many would now say: “It was better before.” I couldn't agree more.

Comparison of characteristics of the 1000th and 2000th series

To begin with, I propose to take a dry look at the characteristics. To make it clear where the Tissot Seastar 2000 was heading, I suggest comparing it with the 1000 series.

So, let's start with the younger ones.

  • Case diameter: 43 mm, thickness - 12.7 mm
  • Ceramic bezel with 120 clicks
  • Swiss Super Luminova on hands and markers
  • Water resistance - 300 meters
  • Sapphire
  • On board Powermatic 80.111

Let's go to 2000

  • Case diameter - 46 mm, Thickness - 15.8 mm, Weight - 206 grams
  • Ceramic bezel with 120 clicks
  • Swiss Super Luminova
  • Sapphire crystal
  • Same mechanism Powermatic 80.111

And, please note, water protection has increased from 300 to 600 meters. The watch already has a helium valve to stabilize the pressure in the watch case and the crown is screwed down for better sealing.

Thus, we see that in comparison with the previous version, the 2000s have become noticeably larger and have noticeably serious water protection.

You know, this is probably some kind of magic, but with really long lugs of 52 mm, on my small wrist it is 18 cm. The girth of the watch fits very well. I expected it to be bad.

The bracelet immediately goes down and there is no feeling that this is some kind of oversized watch. Respect to the designers for the design.

The design of this watch has remained virtually unchanged compared to the thousand-year-old watch. They just got bigger.

But this is without touching on the nuances. And the nuance here is the chic dial with wave patterns.

Even for me, a person who looks askance at Tissot, my heart melted. A truly beautiful design that shimmers pleasantly in different lighting and viewing angles.

By the way, as I see, the hour markers are not applied to the dial, but they are attached to the minute plate along the edge of the dial, which creates a floating effect, as if the markers were hanging in the air. This gives a cool feeling of volume.

The arrows are bold for good readability. Don't forget that this is a diver's watch and that's right.

Seconds hand with signature "T" counterweight (Tissot).

The date was carefully placed on a black background at 6 o’clock, which once again did not become an eyesore and did not distract from the beauty of the dial. This is good.

Well, I expect that the lume will be significant. Let's check.

I often say that watch faces can play at least 60% of your watch experience. This is exactly the case.

Although next I will try to find fault with the clock.

I'll start with the finish and geometry of the case. Okay, the geometry is a bit clumsy and is part of this style. So to speak, for brutal men.

But the finishing for the money could be much better. Here Tissot is in his repertoire. We are Tissot Christmas trees.

The main finish is satin, but the sides of the case have the recognizable, signature mirror-polished slots.

The bezel and crown are very comfortable. The bezel itself extends slightly beyond the case, making it very easy to operate. The bezel is clear and confident.

Head with protective beads. Large, easy to operate.

In terms of convenience, the watch was well thought out.

The back cover of the watch is transparent. Through it we can admire the popular Powermatic 80 movement with a huge power reserve of 80 hours. Operates at a frequency of 21600 vibrations per hour. Nivachrone anti-magnetic spring is present.

Overall an excellent and well proven mechanism.

At first glance, the bracelet seems simple. On the other hand, what to put on such a brutal watch?

The geometry of the bracelet is good. Fully mirror polished.

If I'm going to be picky, I'll say that the edges of the bracelet are a little sharp.

But the clasp for this price is poor to say the least. Yes, convenient, yes, reliable. There is even a diving extension.

But, Tissot, look at the clasps that make dollar microbrands $500 cheaper than this model. A $1000 microbrand will have such a fastener that this one won’t even come close in comparison.

By the way, the bracelet has a quick replacement system. I forgot to say in a fit of negativity. He is also a certified diver who meets ISO6425 standards. These are important nuances.

Well, now for the results.

The price of new ones today is 49 thousand UAH, which is equivalent to almost $1300

Compared to the previous version, these are completely different watches. A person who buys a 43mm model is unlikely to buy a 46mm. And vice versa. Therefore, here Tissot has clearly divided the watches into different categories.

There are more than enough competitors in this style from other brands and microbrands in this budget. The same Certina DS Action and the same Hamilton Khaki Navy from the same Swatch Group.

Only this model has its own face, and of course there is a serious brand behind it, which often also influences the choice towards Tissot.

I can say that Tissot is somewhere slacking on the finishing, putting primitive fasteners, but overall I will note that I like the model. And, I am sure that the shortcomings that I mentioned will have little impact on the decision of a person who liked this watch and whose wallet allows it.

What do you think? I'm interested in your opinion, I'm waiting for you in the comments.

That's all, stay healthy and see you again.
