Spinnaker Dolphin Project Watch

Friends, I welcome everyone to the channel about Feeltime watches, my name is Stanislav and today we will talk about a hot new product from the Spinnaker brand.

Lately, Spinnaker has been pleasing watch lovers with limited edition models. Our new product was released in collaboration with the Dolphin Project, an organization that protects dolphins.

It's a good cause, and 12% of the sale of each Spinnaker model goes to this organization.

In general, I like this trend among many watch brands. Saving nature and its inhabitants is an important matter!

Let's start with the unboxing .

We are greeted by pleasant, bright packaging branded Spinnaker. The image of dolphins will immediately tell you what kind of model it is.

Upon opening the package, you will be greeted by a welcome letter from the founder and director of Dolphin Project, in which he thanks you for your purchase,   and writes about the importance of their organization, which has been operating since 1970.

Next we see the clock itself. We will talk about them later.

In a separate compartment you will find an additional strap made from recycled ocean waste.

A tool for changing the strap and detailed instructions with a certificate indicating the limited number of your watch.

I like that the packaging is simple on the one hand, and on the other hand this simplicity is done with taste. The equipment is certainly nice.

This model is produced in a limited edition of 600 copies worldwide.

But it seems to me that Spinnaker is presenting all this a little wrong. That is, they count not one model, but all at once.

A total of 3 Spinnaker Dolphin Project colorways were released. This is blue, black and Tiffany, which, unfortunately, I could not bring. It was dismantled. By the way, the blue color has already been sorted out on the official website.

And in total, these 3 colors are released in a limited edition of 600 copies. That is, there are 200 pieces of each color, which is as pleasant as possible.

Let's start with the appearance of the watch. Spinnaker implemented a cool idea with dolphins, but the design was based on the good old Croft model.

The brand did not reinvent the wheel, but took an old one that had proven itself well, adding a cool feature and releasing it in a small edition.

In principle, many brands and microbrands do this. What's there to fuss about? People love limits. It's nice when you have a watch on your hand that you definitely won't see on anyone else.

And let me start with the basics.

If you've looked at my reviews of the basic Croft models, I've always been very complimentary of the 316l stainless steel cases.

Frankly speaking, the quality of finishing is impeccable for their price.

The sides and top of the lugs are satin-brushed, and between them, along the entire case, there is a strip of mirror polishing, which gives the watch a good amount of volume.

The head has no protective beads, which is great. After all, in essence, this is a retro, casual, dive watch. Style demands it.

Bezel 120 clicks counterclockwise.

The grip is good. The bezel is very tight. Perhaps even too much.

The watch with a black dial has a bezel with a stainless steel insert, while the blue version of the dial also has a bezel with a stainless steel insert with PVD coating.

It certainly looks like ceramics, but it’s more likely a PVD coating on stainless steel. Alas, the manufacturer himself did not highlight this characteristic.

I'll be honest with you. I like the look of the bezel, I like the workmanship. But I don't really like the way it rotates. Too tight. The progress is uneven.

That is, in one place it goes smoother, in another it is tighter. For example, when I rotate the bezel of the same NTH, every click and the feeling of rotation are the same. This is not the case here.

But in general, this is unlikely to upset you in any way. Typically, the owners of these watches can turn the bezel once a year, purely out of boredom or curiosity.

The watch sizes are as follows:

Diameter - 40 mm, from lug to lug - 46 mm, thickness - 14 mm, weight - 160 grams on a full bracelet.

This watch size is definitely mine and on my hand it is 18 cm. The girth fits perfectly. Overall, I personally like the Croft models.

Let's look at the back cover. There is a shallow but pleasant engraving of the Dolphin Projct organization, the characteristics of the watch are written out and there is its limited number of 200.

The bracelet of the watch is of good quality, but the finishing is not up to the quality of the case, it is a little simpler.

The geometry is excellent. Nothing breaks or clings.

There is a pleasant rustle of the bracelet.

The clasp is stamped on the outside, molded on the inside. There is a diving extension and micro adjustment for the length of the bracelet.

Well, it's time to taste the dials.

After all, this is one of the main features of the watch.

Conventionally, it can be divided into 2 levels. The first, the deepest - with a large number of dolphins. There is also an applied Spinnaker logo and at the bottom the type of mechanism with water resistance of 150 meters is indicated.

The second level is a plate along the edge of the dial with detailed minute markings and applied hour markers.

Date at 3 o'clock on a black base. Doesn't distract attention.

And of course the second hand with a dolphin on the counterweight stands out.

Well, now let's see a cool trick. Swiss Super Luminova is applied to the hands and hour markers, but they are not the only ones that glow. A school of dolphins also glows. Of course, these things have a certain WOW effect.

I don't really like that Spinnaker doesn't indicate the caliber of the movement in some of its models.

It just says that these are Japanese mechanics. And guess which one - guess for yourself.

Most likely this is a classic from Seiko NH35A. There's a STOP second here, so I'm leaning towards it. Power reserve 42 hours.

Among other characteristics I did not mention sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and I repeat that water resistance is 150 meters. The watch can be used for diving.

Well, let's sum it up?

The price today in my Feeltime online store is 19250 UAH.

Basic Croft models without dolphins, without limited edition cost 14,350 UAH.

That is, exactly 5000 UAH costs an idea, an extended set, a small print run. In my opinion, such an additional payment is absolutely small.

But overall, I like the design, I like the quality of this watch. Not without sins, but also without crime.

As practice shows, such Spinnaker limits will be scattered. At least this was the case with the past turtles, squids and whales that I brought. People want something different from everyone else.

Overall, I am glad that I was able to bring this watch to Ukraine with such a small edition.

So take advantage of the moment. You can buy the original with an official 2-year warranty in my Feeltime online store. I am the official distributor of the Spinnaker brand in Ukraine.

Write your opinion about the watch. I'll be happy to discuss. And that’s all for me, Stanislav was with you as always. Until next time. Bye.
