Phoibos Leviathan watch

Hello everyone, you are on the Feeltime watch channel, and today we will talk about the newest version of the Leviathan model from the microbrand Phoibos.

In general, I would like to say that this year was probably the year of the brand's popular models being reduced in size. That is, what used to be 42 or 44 mm was simply remade into smaller cases with a diameter of 39 or 40 mm.

Throughout the review, I will just show you the older brother of this model so that you understand what it's all about.

That is, we can say that the trend is now towards more accurate watches. And I will tell you that even very healthy guys have often bought watches with a diameter of 40 mm from me this year. As far as I can go, I myself have finally switched to this size. And I only accept larger ones from brands like Casio, Luminox or Garmin. That is, tracking watches.

To be consistent, let me show you where this collection started. And it started with this monster with a 45 mm case diameter.

Quite a brutal design. Chopped shapes made of 316l stainless steel. Quite a thick rubber strap with lots of holes so that the hand can breathe in the summer.

When this model first appeared, it was something of a "Wow" because the quality is really top-notch, the features are really cool, and the price is very low.

We're not talking about this watch today, but just so you understand, we have:

120-turn ceramic bezel (super quality, comfortable, without any backlash)
Sapphire glass of a very unusual shape with 3 layers of anti-reflective coating
15 layers of Swiss Super Luminova that glows royally in the dark
Water resistant to 500 meters. Screw-down crown for better tightness
And the quick strap replacement system.

And all this costs only UAH 13,940 today. Without decorations, today's well-known brands will not offer anything even close to this price.

And here you have the quality of workmanship, I have a wonderful, very voluminous, perfectly readable dial. And top engraving on the back cover. Just chic.

But this watch had a problem. For some. Someone liked it, but the size of 45 mm is really for a hero. And you can see how it, for example, sits on my thin hand 18 cm. In volume.

That is, they wanted the same one, but smaller. And Phoibos was heard.

So the old version is still with the brand, maybe they'll re-release it someday, I only have one copy left in the color you just saw.

And just in the summer of 2024, Phoibos reissued this model on stainless steel bracelets and with new, bright dials.

Versions with blue, white, yellow and orange dials were presented.

Let me show you an example of an orange tree.

What has changed compared to the large version?

The shape of the hull itself was left absolutely the same. Because that was the point. To do the same thing - but smaller.

And let's take these measurements right away.

The diameter of the steel is 40 mm, from lug to lug - 48 mm, thickness - 13 mm, weight 167 grams on a full bracelet.

And while the predecessor was a bit too big for my hand, this one fit like a glove. So the goal of fitting this model to a smaller hand was achieved.

Instead of a strap, a 316l stainless steel bracelet was installed.

The bracelet is cool, great attachment to the case. Pleasant sound, no unpleasant rattling sounds. Beautiful geometry, and the links are attached with screws, which is also a plus.

The clasp, by the way, looks pretty nice and fits this bracelet, but it's a little outdated. It's a stamp on the outside and it's cast on the inside.

As always, the back cover has a delicious, deep engraving, for which I have great respect for Phoibos, because it really looks cool and expensive.

And there are some changes in the characteristics.

The sapphire was made flat, the glass is no longer as complex as it was on the large model. But the same 3 layers of anti-reflective coating.

But they lowered the water resistance from 500 to 200 meters. In principle, there is no problem with this, because for a person who is not a professional diver, these are the same indicators, because a person will not be able to reach even 200 possible meters. That is, in short, you can swim and dive to a certain depth without any problems.
The mechanism remained the same. Japanese Seiko NH35A with a power reserve of 42 hours, operating at a frequency of 21600 vibrations per hour. The passport error is plus or minus 20-40 seconds per day. But usually the indicators are better.

The dial texture has been slightly reworked. The large version had a smooth surface, this one has a rough texture, but the hands and markers remain the same.

And I want to say that the dials look really cool, because the texture is cool, and the applied markers give a nice volume. Plus, the colors are very rich. For those who like that.

And this fall, Phoibos decided to further improve this model and release new versions of the dials.

In fact, today's video is about this version, but it so happened that I'm showing you a little bit of the entire chain.

The latest version came out in 4 colors. But one of them, to be precise - white, was borrowed from the previous, summer version, but slightly improved, which I will talk about later.

Unfortunately, I can only show you 3 colors, because by the time I got to the shooting, the black color had been taken apart, and Phoibos no longer has any leftover scaled-down Leviathan in stock, except for the previous version in orange, which I still have.

So if you like them, I suggest you don't delay and pick them up, because they are not expected to be available in the near future.

By fall, the colors were made less restrained. They no longer released anything like the yellow dial, but the colors are still top-notch.

Throughout the review, I'll show you all of them, but I'll focus on the burgundy, because it's really pleasing to the eye.

In terms of case design, there are again no changes. Brutal, chopped cases made of 316l stainless steel.

Overall, the design is TOP. Phoibos developed them once, and it's still one of their best models.

Beautiful detailing of the case. Beautiful satin finish. No issues. Everything is very cool and nicely done.

Bezel with ceramic insert. 120 revolutions. It rotates nicely. There is no play. But it slips a little between the fingers. That is, if your hands sweat in the summer, it will become even worse.

The bracelet is the same as the previous model. Excellent quality. Nice fasteners, nice sound (i.e. no sounds that shouldn't be there, or that are on cheap watches).

But there are many changes in the bracelet.

First, they added a quick-change system. Second, they changed the clasp to the most expensive and convenient one that Phoibos now has. It's a fully molded clasp with a diver's extension.

And in fact, apart from the new dial colors, what distinguishes this one from the previous version is the perfectly finished bracelet. That's why the price is a little higher. But in fact, it's a penny.

On the back, as always, you will be pleased with the cool engraving of an octopus.

And in terms of characteristics, there are no changes from the previous model.

So let's not delay and measure all the colors and look at the dials.

And the texture of the dial has changed. It's like a circular finish. I mean, if you look closely, you can see the circular layers. I like that.

The colors are not uniform, that is, there is a gradient. Like on this model, for example, from burgundy to black.

The hands and markers were not changed. And there is no need to do that when it already looks cool. Very bulky and expensive, especially considering the price of this watch.

The latest version currently costs only 15,800 UAH in my Feeltime store, which is only 900 UAH more expensive than the previous version.

This version didn't kill the previous one, nor the largest one, because the previous version has different, brighter dials, and some people will like that, while the first one is just for large hands. Although I will emphasize that it is now basically gone and is no longer available.

Speaking of the watch itself, Phoibos, as always, knows how to make the coolest thing possible for an affordable budget.

Here you have a cool design, cool colors, top-quality workmanship and a watch without flaws. I would like to throw tar at you so that you don't say that I'm advertising too much, but there simply isn't any.

At the same time, the characteristics are really cool.
