New 2024 from the Swiss Certina DS-1

Friends, hello everyone, you are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we are reviewing a new product from the Swiss Certina from the DS-1 collection.

I want to say right away that the new model differs from the old and still relevant and popular DS-1 model only in the content of the dial and the mechanism, respectively.  

Sertina follows the policy - why reinvent the wheel if the old one works. On the one hand, this is good, on the other hand, of course, you want something new.  

On the other hand.. I want something new, there are a lot of other brands.  

In general, let's see what kind of watch we have.  

The model is delivered in a classic box made from recycled ocean waste. As does the convenient case that you will find inside the box.  

A total of 3 versions of these watches were presented in Ukraine.  

I’m not a fan of leather, especially crocodile, so for review I decided to take the version on a mesh bracelet (Milanese weaving)  

As I said, the case is no different from previous generations, so I personally didn’t discover anything new.  

It has a rather complex geometry. There are bulges in the middle on the sides. Fully polished. The polishing quality is excellent. I see myself in the body as in a mirror.

But you need to understand that polishing scratches much more vigorously. On the other hand, this is unlikely to stop those who like the watch.  

For example, the purchase of my Hamiltons did not stop me.  

By the way, unlike my Hamiltons, which are significantly more expensive than this model, this bracelet has a quick-change system.

I ordered new straps and I don’t know how to change them myself. And going to the master is extra time. You understand2.  

This bracelet is of good quality. The clasp has bars that can be removed to suit your wrist size. The clasp itself is a butterfly type.  

Let's return to the body.  

The sizes are as follows

Diameter - 40 mm, from lug to lug - 47 mm, thickness - 11.53 mm, weight - 138 grams.  

On my small wrist 18 cm. The girth of the watch fits perfectly. This is definitely my size.

What about the characteristics?  

• We have a sapphire, slightly convex glass with one-sided anti-reflective glass.  
• Water resistance is 100 meters, which is an absolutely good indicator for such an everyday style of watch.
• And on board is a Swiss automatic ETA 2834-2 with a power reserve of 38 hours and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.  
• It was installed for obvious reasons. Usually today Sertina puts Powermatic 80 on his watches, but there is no such mechanism with a “Days of the Week” complication, so they took a ready-made solution.  

The dial is beautiful.  

Black color in the texture of sun rays.  

Wedge-shaped hands and hour markers. Gilded. They contrast well with the overall color and add to readability.  

Overlay logo of the brand and the DS-1 collection.  

At the core of the dial there is a 24-hour scale. Along the edge of the dial, in a certain recess, there is a minute scale in the railway.  

What's the price?

3 versions of this model arrived in Ukraine. Versions with leather straps are more affordable. Today 37550 UAH. With a more expensive bracelet 39160 UAH.

It turns out that the price is slightly less than $1000 equivalent.  

In general, it does not cause any surprise, since it is Sertina on the mechanics, in a recognizable case, in the quality and performance familiar to the brand.  

A watch for every day and definitely not for everyone. I still like the previous, more laconic versions of this model better. For example, with a green dial. They are absolutely beautiful.
