New Invicta from the Hydromax collection
The Pro Diver collection is quite in demand and popular with Invicta watches. Personally, I was always embarrassed by the fact that the models included in this collection have a water resistance of 100-200 meters (real 10-20 meters) and more often with non-screw buttons (affects the tightness of the case). If you already named the collection that way, then the water protection characteristics should be more serious, otherwise it turns out that the name is contrary to reality.
Apparently, the developers of Invicta's new products also clicked in their heads and finally they released an almost new sub-series of the Pro Diver collection, which is proudly called Hydromax. The water resistance of the specimens that fell into our hands is 1000 meters and this is a really serious figure.
In this review, I will consider with you two identical models in different colors. These are Invicta 16960 and Invicta 16964 .
Watch design
Let's start with design. The watch is HUGE and heavy. The case diameter of 52 mm is the usual size for Invicta watches, but the thickness of 28 mm is already something new. If you look at the watch from the side, it looks like a pie: the first layer is the watch case, then comes the bezel layer and completes all this thick, tempered Flame Fusion glass.
The model in some places is decorated with a skull in some kind of cowboy hat. This logo was custom designed for the Hydromax collection.
I really liked the new clasp. There are two buttons that increase or decrease the size of the bracelet with one click. Very comfortably. Especially if you travel and are constantly in different climatic conditions, because as you know, the hand swells from the heat, and decreases from the cold, so discomfort may occur, which is eliminated by this small refinement.
By the way, for travelers, the watch has a GMT function, which allows you to set the time in several time zones at once. To do this, an additional scale of 24 hours and a second hour hand are installed on the dial.
In general, I liked the design of the watch, but the hand for this model needs an appropriate one. On my wrist of 19 cm, in my opinion, the watch looked ridiculous.
Model functionality
As for the functionality of the watch, there is complete minimalism, which has a great effect on the readability of the dial. Hours, minutes, seconds, date, second time zone and anti-clockwise rotating bezel ring with detailed minute markings for fixing time intervals. In fact - the most necessary for a diver and for everyday life. Nothing extra.
The hands and hour markers are covered with a special Tritnite composition, which accumulates energy and glows in the dark, and the classic glass is tempered, made using the patented Flame Fusion system.
Results
Let's summarize. The Invicta from the Hydromax collection is a performance watch that finally lives up to the Pro Diver name. The models have excellent readability, the most necessary functionality and quite an affordable price, given the Swiss assembly of the mechanism and the watch itself (Swiss Made). Those who love really big watches will be satisfied!
