Citizen NY0040-09EE Promaster watch review - an undying classic

I want to say that this is an example of when a watch has some shortcomings that I would not forgive other watches, but which I am ready to turn a blind eye to simply because I really like this watch. I put them on my arm yesterday and felt that over time I want to supplement my modest watch set with them.
And I don’t know the exact year of release of this model, but I have a feeling that they are 10 years old, but at the same time the model does not become obsolete at all, even taking into account the noticeably stepped forward technologies.

Equipment
The watch comes in a classic Citizen box. There's not much to say here. Very modest and budget friendly. In addition to the watch, there is an international 2-year warranty.

Design
The first look at the watch and it is immediately clear that this is the Japanese Citizen. That is why Promaster watches remain relevant many years after the first release. Watches that have their own face, and which cannot be confused with anything.
A feature of this model is the crown located non-standard in the lower left corner of the case. Of course, one can assume that this is a left-handed watch, although the brand itself does not position the model in this way.
The location itself is purely visual I really like. Plus, it is convenient from the point of view that if you wear a classic watch on your left hand, then nothing interferes with your wrist.
On the other hand, adjusting the model in this head position is inconvenient. Although I think that this is a matter of habit and a matter of time.
The model has a pronounced bezel with a toothy texture and an aluminum black bezel, which, in this model, is, unfortunately, quite prone to scratching.
The bezel rotates 60 clicks counterclockwise, has a very comfortable grip, but also a frank backlash.
If it were a different watch, I'd say the bezel sucks. But in this case, I seem to be under hypnosis by Citizen. Firstly, I immediately know that the bezel here is of average quality and I initially do not have high expectations, and secondly, I just like its shape, and I'm just ready to leave out the quality flaws.
Exactly the same thing happens with the case made of stainless steel. Mirror finish on the sides is excellent. I am reflected in it as in a mirror. But the upper lugs are not so well satined, but again, this does not bother me at all.
It feels like falling in love, when you realize that a girl has flaws, but they don’t care about them.

Characteristics of Citizen NY0040-09EE Promaster watch
As for the characteristics, the Japanese Citizen mechanics with the Miyota 8203a caliber are on board the watch. Power reserve - 43 hours. 21600 vibrations per hour, there is a manual winding and there is a Stop Second.
Of the other characteristics, the watch has the simplest mineral glass and water resistance at the level of 200 meters. The head is screwed down for better tightness, so you can dive in the model.

Let's take measurements. The case diameter is 41 mm, lug to lug 47 mm, thickness 12.8 mm, strap width 23 mm, weight 96 grams.
Watch on my hand
So the watch sits on my hand 18 cm in girth. Once I put them on, I don't want to take them off. They look great. I look at them and understand that they will be relevant in 10 and 20 years. Such an undying design.
Strap
The strap is rubber. The quality is quite good. Design-wise, it features Citizen's signature waves, which again makes this belt unique in a way. The entire length of the strap has a bunch of holes so that your hand does not sweat much. There are 2 locks to adjust the length and a very simple, classic clasp.
Clock face
The dial is another feature of the Citizen Promaster. There is no need to explain what's what. You just look at him and you understand: "Oh, this is Citizen." There is a very pronounced markup with the brightest corporate lume of a city and a well-designed window for the days of the week and dates on a black substrate, so as not to stand out from the design of the dial. Readability and appearance are excellent.
Results
The price of this model with us and in the network of our partners Deka today is 9290 UAH. And with all the shortcomings of this model, and this is a backlash bezel with an aluminum lining, the quality of the lugs is not perfect, the quality of the clasp is so-so – I want to say that this is a chic option for the money.
The case when you evaluate a watch not dryly based on its quality, but on the basis of internal feelings about the watch in general. And those very feelings tell me that this is a very cool model with an awesome design and history. I repeat that this is a watch that will be relevant in 20 years. It's just that Citizen once hit the bull's-eye with this model.
