Hamilton American Classic Watch

Friends, hello everyone, you are on the channel about Feeltime watches, with you as always Stanislav, and today we will have the very latest model from the Swiss Hamilton from the American Classic collection.

Many of you know that I am a big fan of the Hamilton brand. I wear their watches myself, there is a model that I plan to buy in the future, and generally almost every Hamilton watch that I shoot is a favorite.  

But today will be an exception. The watch that I liked so much in the picture, the watch whose color attracts attention in real life absolutely does not touch the strings of my soul and causes some contradictions, which I will talk about during the review

You know, it’s hard for me to say this, but when I look at this watch, I get the impression that if they were labeled “Daniel Wellington,” which I have an extremely negative attitude towards due to its low quality and high price, then I would not have had any contradictions.  

And this is a really bad start to a relationship.  

I’m trying to explain to myself what it is that causes me to perceive watches in this way, and I understand that it’s a combination of components.  

Well, first of all, the case looks very simple. It is made of stainless steel 316l with a gold-colored pvd coating.  

And if Hamilton usually surprises with its cool, even simple, but very high-quality cases. As for example in the Jazzmaster models, then here the case seems very simple to me.  

Yes, it is a vintage watch, yes, it is a small 38 mm, yes, they may have tried to make it look simple on purpose, but I just can't get into that simplicity. I can't feel the price of the watch in it, which I will voice later.  

The model has a Swiss automatic ETA 2892-A2 with a power reserve of 42 hours. I think that the powermatic 80 was not installed due to the small size of the watch. Most likely, it simply would not have fit.

Since I'm talking about size, let's take a picture.

Diameter - 38 mm, from lug to lug - 44 mm, thickness - 9.8 mm, weight only 52 grams.  

On my thin hand, 18 cm. The watch fits perfectly in girth. No questions here at all.  

The watch strap is made of genuine leather. Light brown. A nice color. But I didn't like it either.  

Let me explain. It's probably logical that they tried to install a neat strap on such a small and thin watch. There is logic.  

But I have seen similar straps on more expensive watches, and I have seen how in these places of gluing, they delaminate. And, frankly speaking, such a strap does not inspire any confidence in me.  

Overall, you can probably understand that the characteristics here are what you would expect for a watch in this style.

It is a sapphire with anti-reflective coating and water resistance - 50 meters.  

The dial is probably the only part of this watch that I like. And even then, there are some shortcomings. Again, it's more a matter of taste.  

First of all, I really like the gradient color. It really looks expensive and attracts attention.

I like the curved edge of the plate, which is often used by the Swatch Group in its brands. This effect is often used in the same Certina.  

I like the elegant hands and markers, with the hands curving at the end just like the dial plate.  

And very unobtrusively they placed the date on a black background at the 6 o'clock mark.  

So I honestly ask myself: "Would I like to have a second hand here?" And I don't even know what to answer.  

And finally, I want to start with the price.  

And today in Ukrainian stores, including my Feeltime, it costs 53850 UAH, which is $1300, just for a second.

Maybe I didn't get the vintage style, maybe I didn't get something in general, but to my mind this watch doesn't look or feel like a $1300 watch.  

Hamilton, I'm terribly sorry, I love your brand very much, but I speak about this model exactly as I feel.  

And I can't shake the feeling that this watch could be confused with some fashion watch like the Wellington. Well, that's just not good.  

Honestly, for this price, Hamilton has a Jazzmaster that feels like a super watch. And here... Well, I don't know.
