Swiss watch - original or copy

Let's immediately define the terms. There are original Swiss watches, there are copy watches, and there are fake watches, and all these are different watches.

For some, the accuracy of the move is enough, for someone, in addition to accuracy, truth is also needed, and for someone, only pons is important (the Latin root of the concept of “show-off”)

Praise Kronos, our target audience knows how to match the time and place, and therefore about cheap fakes, either nothing, or ... nothing.

In general, let's talk about how to distinguish an original Swiss watch from a good copy.

Instructions for the watchmaker-pathfinder:

1. The most obvious visual signs:

  • Strap

If the brand is leather. If a copy - then leatherette or calico. If the “leather” wrinkles on the strap, the line is uneven, and even a couple of threads stick out, there can be no doubt - you have anything in front of you, but not the original Swiss watch. However, there are really good replicas that almost repeat both materials and models, but in no case repeat the markings, and more on that below.

  • Marking

Were you embarrassed by a tracksuit with the inscription Abibas? Then don't be embarrassed by the Geneva watch at $3 a bunch. In fact, a true watch with the inscription Geneva or Geneve are many times more expensive.

Champions of uniqueness in everything! Look for such markings on the watch dial as: Swiss Made, Swiss movement, Swiss Quartz.

But MadeinSwitzerland are made at best on Little Qiaonan (“Qiaonan Market” in Hunan Province is one of the largest markets in China).

  • Package

If the watch has a package - it's already good, but if it is made of moiré or morocco, with gold embossing and the number of the packer with an individual watch certificate, then the sir understands good watches!

  • Waterproof

Is the watch claimed to be original and waterproof? Take your favorite watch and hold it for a minute under running water. Clock stopped? Oops. And before that, did you already study the strap, markings and packaging? Not? Alas, you got not the best copy. Because the manufacturers of original watches are responsible for every word, and copy-pasters are responsible for the appearance and nothing more.

2. Other signs

  • Ask to open the watch case. In the original Swiss, every detail of the mechanism is marked with a hallmark.
  • Study the catalogs and special tags of each brand. Very often, even in good copies, there are no markings that Swiss watchmakers have built into the design of their watches.
  • If you're a fan of watches from a certain collection, study them in catalogs and then compare the proposed option "pessimism" with the option "optimism". As a rule, an expensive copy will repeat the original almost completely, except for one detail (they are not enemies to themselves and do not want litigation for plagiarism). This one detail will be a signal rocket for you.

And may the Force and Swiss quality be with you!
