Diving watch Invicta 16966 Hydromax
A few years ago, a new offshoot of the Pro Diver Hydromax appeared in the Pro Diver collection. Unlike just Invicta Pro Diver watches, the watches in the Pro Diver Hydromax collection are truly professional water resistant. Everything is adult. In general, it’s such a Maybach in the world of Mercedes.
When I saw the first piece from the collection, the thought immediately arose: "Who will wear such a huge watch? Who are they for?" But as sales have shown, there are connoisseurs, and far from rare. I'm not sure that everyone in this watch is diving, but the design and size definitely appealed to many.
In general, 1.5 years have passed and invicta still produces these models in large quantities, the only thing that has changed is the cherished inscription "Swiss Made" (Made in Switzerland) has disappeared. Yes, unfortunately, to meet this inscription on new models is now a rarity. The trend is going down. From myself I will say that the quality does not suffer. The mechanism in the watch is still the same Swiss, but there are no complaints about the assembly, there is nothing to complain about. If you put Swiss Made and Swiss Movement watches side by side, you will not find any difference in quality.
But let's get back to the Invicta 16966 Pro Diver Hydromax model itself. The watch is huge, heavy and very thick.

The watch is positioned as a diving watch. It is not often that you will find a water-resistance rating of 1000 meters in wristwatches. Of course, the crown is screwed down here for better tightness of the case and there is a helium valve on the side of the case to stabilize the pressure in the watch when you surface from great depths. To fix the time intervals in the watch, a bezel with minute markings is installed. The bezel is smooth and easy to rotate. For the diver, this moment is important, as it is his safety. You need to understand when the oxygen in the balloon runs out and it's time to ascend.
There is also a diving clasp installed here, with the possibility of expanding it so that the watch can be worn over a wetsuit.
Glass for invicta is classic - Flame Fusion (patented technology for tempering glass), but its thickness is unusual (why it is so thick, I think it's not worth explaining).
In terms of functionality, there is not much to brag about here. Is it worth it at all? On the dial we can see the main time and the GMT function implemented in the additional hour hand. This gives you the ability to set the time in two time zones at once. Very convenient for the traveler.
Dial readability is excellent. Both during the daytime and at night. There are light accumulators on the hands and markers, so reading the time in the dark is not a problem.
Let's summarize:
The watch turned out to be very large and for an amateur, but as practice has shown, there are enough of them. The quality of the watch is very good, I had nothing to complain about, the price is affordable, if you are not a student, then you can easily afford it. Sizes... If you are going to just wear a watch, and your wrist is 18 cm in girth like mine, then the choice is very doubtful :) There should be a really healthy, male hand, then there will be synergy and the absence of incomprehensible chuckles from the environment.
