Square clocks

Sometimes reviews are born simply from life. Last week I had an order for Swiss MIDO watches from the Multifort collection, and I thought: "What interesting things do we have about square watches?"

And after going through the entire catalog, I realized that there weren't that many.

The shape is unusual, the shape is not popular, but someone really likes these watches. Maybe you are one of them? Please write in the comments.

I'll say for myself that I was definitely really impressed with one model from the review. Although before, I would have turned up my nose and said that it was something incomprehensible.

So I invite you to check out the beautiful square watches that I have selected for you today.

Mido Multifort TV Big Date Watch M049.526.11.041.00

I suggest starting with the watch that gave rise to the idea for this review. It's a Swiss MIDO from the Multifort collection.

The Mido brand belongs to the Swatch Group and was recently finally officially introduced in Ukraine.

I've already filmed reviews of some models, so please subscribe to my channel and check them out if you haven't already.

Let's be clear. MIDO in the Swatch Group gradation is slightly higher than Tissot and Certina. Although in fact I wouldn't say that it is somehow better made.

As for the design of this particular model, I definitely like it.

It's a straight-up retro case in the shape of a vintage TV. And the dial has a texture that resembles the noise-streaks on the screen that we used to see on TV as children when we couldn't get a signal with our antenna.

The design is truly original.

Although is it really that original? Let's write in the comments what this watch reminds you of?

The quality of the finish is not exactly top-notch, but it is very good. The combination of mirror polishing and satin finishing gives the watch a gloss and nice volume.

Yes, I'm a little inconsistent.

MIDO comes in a classic brand box. Made to look like wood, but it's not wood. In principle, it feels well-made and of good quality. Of course, all the original documentation will be included. Warranty in Ukraine for MIDO is 2 years.

Through the back cover you can see the caliber of the Swiss automatic Caliber 80. Well, you probably already understood that it is essentially a Powermatic 80 with a power reserve of 80 hours.

But of course, what with the complication, which you can see in the form of a large date on the dial. I really like that.

The bracelet is of good quality. To be honest, it reminded me a lot of the Italian Venezianico bracelets.

But let's be honest. This whole story with the bracelet in Venezianico and in Mido came from the legendary Patek Philippe "Nautilus". But in principle, the entire MIDO Multifort is very similar to Patek Philippe. Please correct me if I got something wrong and got something wrong.

What do we have besides the mechanism?

Sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating.

100 meters water resistance. Moreover, the head is screwed for better tightness. Therefore, you can safely swim in the watch.

On my hand is 18 cm. It fits well in volume. It is a small hand.

Dimensions of the watch itself. 39 by 40 mm, thickness - 11.5 mm, weight - 155 grams on a full bracelet.

Overall, I liked it.

The dial is beautiful.

The one I'm currently reviewing is a blue gradient with a transition to black, but this model generally comes in different color options.

I like the texture. The markings are slightly recessed. And this gives volume. The arrows are well polished.

The date is on a black background. It's nice, not distracting, and easy to read.

The readability is great. I checked the lume on the arrows and markers, it works great.

What do we have in terms of money?

This watch costs 65,560 UAH today, and in principle, this is a normal price tag for budget Swiss watches from the Swatch Group.

It looks good, is well made, and has great features. You can order it HERE .

For lovers of square watches, an alternative to the Patek Philippe "Nautilus" is available for consideration for 200%.

Raymond Weil Freelancer 2490-STS-52051 watch

The next watch is from the Swiss, independent brand Raymond Weil from the Freelancer collection.

And it's a women's watch, although it definitely feels unisex to me.

Let's start with this.

Watch diameter - 34.5 mm. From lug to lug - 43 mm, Thickness - 9.3 mm, Weight - 116 grams.

At full height with a watch, it really feels unisex.

Moreover, the 60 diamonds on the bezel, the certificate for which will be included with the watch, make you feel like you're a pimp with a gun on your belt.

Okay, you know this is all a joke, but seriously, diamonds really do make you feel expensive. It's no wonder that versions without them are much more affordable.

And I want to note that Raymond Weil has purely men's versions of this particular model with a diameter of 40 mm.

It's just your perception. Sometimes women want a larger size and choose men's watches, and sometimes vice versa. The main thing is that you are comfortable.

So, I really like this watch. The way it's made, the way it looks.

The body has a rather complex shape. Lots of difficult transitions. I like the finish.

The bracelet is also of good quality. I can't say it's perfect, but it's very well made.

I also like its "Butterfly" clasp with the brand logo.

Through the back cover you can see the Swiss automatic RW4200. It looks like the brand's own movement, but in fact it is a modified Sellita SW200, which you know very well.

It has an increased power reserve from 38 hours to 41 hours, the frequency is the same - 28,800 vibrations per hour. And the workmanship of the mechanism itself and the pendulum is at a high level. There is something to look at!

By the way, I forgot again.

Very nice packaging. Such a battered and heavy box that immediately gives the feeling: "There's something expensive inside." The box contains a travel case with the watch itself inside.

It is both beautiful and convenient.

What other characteristics do we have?

100 meters water resistance. Great, you can swim without any problems.

Sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating.

I like the dial pattern.

As is its color. You will recognize it without any problems if you have ever seen it.

Readability is at its peak.

Specially shaped hands and markers. With Swiss Super Luminova. The quality of the lume is excellent.

The dial is well-designed in detail, looks expensive and solid. I have no questions.

This beauty costs 154,370 UAH today.

I will say this. The watch looks and feels good for the money. It is far from being perfectly made, but it does have the feel of a premium model.

Diamonds also contribute to this feeling. Therefore, I repeat, watches with them, not only from this brand, are always more expensive.

Rado TRUE SQUARE AUTOMATIC OPEN HEART watch 01.734.6086.3.016 R27086162

The last watch we'll look at today is a Rado from the Square collection, which like MIDO is owned by the Swatch Group, but is obviously higher on the ladder in terms of brand status.

I didn't understand this watch before. Some kind of incomprehensible square, some kind of incomprehensible ceramic. By the way - high-tech plasma ceramic.

Well, somehow I didn't perceive this watch positively.

But now I'm so high on him that you can't imagine.

First of all, I like the shape. It fits perfectly on the hand. Moreover, this particular model is clearly positioned by the brand as unisex.

38 mm diameter.

And thanks to ceramics, it is so light, smooth, and comfortable against the skin that you simply don't want to take it off.

The body is very streamlined. There is no point in talking about the finish here. The plasma ceramics are all as if varnished. The quality feels top-notch.

The bracelet is very light, soft and comfortable. The quality is at a high level. The inner part of the clasp is made of titanium. Everything was done in order not to add unnecessary weight to the watch.

You can see how much silk the bracelet is from this shot. To fold the watch on the bracelet so beautifully, the bracelet has to be really silk, otherwise it will bulge somewhere.

By the way, this model also has versions with diamonds on the rim. They cost more and look more pretentious, following the example of Raymond Weil.

The diameter is 38 mm, the thickness is 9.7 mm, and the weight is 120 grams on a full bracelet.

It sits just TOP on my 18 cm hand. In volume. No joke, I would wear this watch with pleasure. And maybe in the future I will look at it for myself.

Comes in a classic Rado box. Comes with the full documentation package and an official 5-year warranty in Ukraine. Yes, today Rado gives a full 5-year warranty.

Through the back of the watch you can see its Swiss automatic R734. It is a modified Powermatic 80. The power reserve is 80 hours. The workmanship of the movement is premium.

This can be enjoyed not only through the back cover, but also through the skeletonized dial itself.

And I always say that an expensive watch has an expensive dial first and foremost. And here it is truly premium and well-made down to the smallest detail.

A bunch of intricate details. Geneva waves adorn the metal parts.

You can stare at the balance window forever.

The readability, despite the complexity of the dial, is very good. Although the luminosity is so-so. I didn't even bother to take a picture because it's weak.

Sapphire crystal, 50 meters water resistance. You can just wash your hands in this watch and not be afraid of rain.

And it costs 149,000 UAH.

And it looks its money. Rado Square for me today is very firmly established in style behind the Golden Youth. If you imagine a guy in his early 30s in a black, tinted Audi, who understands crypto and similar things, then this is the ideal image of the owner of this watch. As for me.

Of course, the older generation of top office managers also wears these watches. But mostly the former.

You can order the watch HERE .

With this video, I myself became a little more familiar with square watches. I didn't understand them at all before. To be honest, I still don't understand rectangular watches. They look very strange to me.

But of course, it's all a matter of taste.

Actually, as I said, in the inexpensive segment, those options - what I showed, are probably must-haves. I don't know any more options, or something just slipped my mind.

Maybe you can remind me in the comments?

That's all for me. I hope it was interesting. See you soon. Bye
