Spinnaker Sponge Bob Watch

Since 2024, the successful cooperation between the Spinnaker brand and the owners of the cult cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants" began.  

This is how cool watches with SpongeBob elements or characters began to appear.  

If you think that these are watches for children, then you are definitely wrong. And what exactly are these watches and who are they aimed at, we will find out with you now.

Each Spinnaker Sponge Bob model comes in a branded box.  

Each watch will come with a certificate card with the serial number of your particular model. And all Sponge Bob models are produced in limited editions.  

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to bring SpongeBob's limits to my Feeltime store right away, because I started ordering at the last moment, when the brand was already selling them.  

And the first edition that I managed to bring back was based on the Hull collection.  

What does on base mean?  

But Spinnaker has their standard, non-limited model. They took the case design as a basis and then filled it with SpongeBob-style details. In principle, this is how limits are usually made. And not only in the watch world.  

At first glance, it's not clear that this watch has anything to do with the Sponge Bob cartoon.

But if you look closely at the texture of the dial, you can definitely see a bunch of elements from the SpongeBob SquarePants universe.  

And the image of SpongeBob is literally on the custom rotor of the Japanese Seiko NH35A movement, which has a 42-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Reliable and time-tested Japanese mechanics.  

There were 4 color variations of this model in total. I have one already sold out, so I can't show it, but the others were released in a limited edition of 225 copies worldwide, which is confirmed by the certificate I already mentioned. Plus, this information is on the back of the watch.  

A case based on the Hull model in a retro TV shape.  

Black IP coating. The quality of the finish is good. The case itself is matte, but the bezel and crown are satin-finished.  

The bezel is comfortable, but I checked it out of curiosity, on the red version it has some play, but on the pink one it rotates and becomes as if it were stuck. Although it is more likely not play, but just a large free movement of the bezel. In general, it is not annoying at all, but as a naked fact.  

The watch head is screwed in. Water resistance - 200 meters. This is a full-fledged, diver's watch.  

The straps are very sturdy. It is thick, but at the same time flexible and feels comfortable on the hand.  

By the way, please note that the latch has the "Sponge Bob" symbol on it.

Our sizes are as follows:

Diameter - 42 mm, from lug to lug - 15 mm, weight - 108 grams.  

In general, it is 18 cm on my hand. It fits very nicely in volume.  

I like that there is fun and playfulness in this model, but you have to look closely to see it. It is clear that there is something unusual there, but it is not immediately clear what exactly. That is, you have to look carefully. There is a mystery.  

This watch currently costs 17,500 UAH. It looks great, is well made, has a cool idea and is limited edition. Today, for the watch market, in terms of the ratio of idea-quality-characteristics and price, this is a very good offer.

Then there was an edition that released 3 models, but now I only have the one called Timekeeper, which was released in an amount of 300 copies worldwide.  

In general, I missed the cartoon "SpongeBob" as a child and know it superficially, so maybe you can suggest the idea for this particular model.

Because the dial looks like a target, and the hour markers are laid out like pebbles. And I honestly don't know what this means from the cartoon. Please write in the comments.  

I would like to add that the dial is fully luminescent, so it looks quite impressive in the dark.  

But the custom rotor with the image of all the main characters of "SpongeBob SquarePants" literally speaks about the relationship of the watch to the cartoon. And again, the mechanism is from the Japanese Seiko NH35A.  

The case has excellent quality workmanship. It is stainless steel in a combination of satin finish and mirror polished stripes.  

The bezel is very tight. There is no hint of play here, but it is also a bit difficult to turn. I prefer a little play, but more comfortable rotation.  

The crown is screwed down, and it is also a diver's watch with a water resistance of 200 meters.  

Bright, orange strap. Very similar in quality to its predecessor. Lots of holes to let your skin breathe in hot weather. Good quality strap.  

Diameter - 43 mm, from lug to lug - 49 mm, thickness - 15 mm, weight - 120 grams.  

Again. It's quite big, but I like how it sits on my small hand. The short lugs help, and the strap fits perfectly around the wrist. If there was a bracelet, it would definitely feel bigger. And it's great.  

This watch costs 17,305 UAH today. In principle, the conclusions are the same as for its predecessor. Quality-design-characteristics. Everything is at a very high level for affordable money. Plus an ideological limit.

Next came the limited edition based on the popular Fleuss collection. Again, let me show you the basic model to make it clear.  

And these are the limits with elements from the cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants". Namely, in this version, elements of Coanch Street, where the characters of "SpongeBob SquarePants" live, were used.  

Each version had its own specific edition. This one, for example, was made in the amount of 300 copies worldwide. Let me remind you that this information is in the certificate with the watch and in the form of an engraving of the number on the back cover of the watch.

By the way, here we see the Seiko NH35A again and a custom rotor with the heroes of the SpongeBob cartoon.  

These models are really bright and fun.  

I definitely like the dials. Great textures and colors. And you don't have to be a cartoon fan to appreciate it.  

And if you're a fan, you'll just be pleased to recognize the elements on the dials.  

Something, but the detailing here is at a very high level. Overlaid, cartoonish hour markers, an overlaid, beautiful Spinnaker brand logo. They even did such small details as the date. They did it to match the main color.  

Plus, each dial has its own, personal glow. And it's pleasantly impressive.  

The stainless steel case has a cool finish. In principle, the Fleuss model was inspired by the iconic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, so there is no point in discussing the design. It is wonderful. Such an old-fashioned diver's watch. Water resistance - 150 meters.

Tropical strap. In principle, this is a classic for diving watches. Thin, comfortable, lots of holes so that the hand can breathe. There is a quick replacement system. Made cool.  

The clock is quite large:

Diameter - 43 mm, from lug to lug - 51 mm, Thickness - 13 mm, Weight - 105 grams.  

But again, it fits my small hand perfectly. The fact is that if it were a standard Spinnaker Fleuss, they would definitely feel too big for me. And these are very bright, non-standard, so this size seems quite nice. I want the watch to be visible.  

All three currently available versions cost 18,900 UAH. In terms of design, the most detailed are the “SpongeBob” watches that I showed you today. Very cool and impressive.

The last version of the Sponge Bob limits that I received was released in 3 copies with several cartoon characters.  

But there is also a version with SpongeBob and Beaver.

The models are again based on the Fleuss collection. So I won't mention the quality of the case.  

But I'll say a few words about the belt. It's made of a combination of textile and genuine leather on the inside. The belt has symbols of cartoon elements and this is attention to detail.  

But on the dials, you can literally see SpongeBob under the sapphire crystal, juggling burgers that act as the second hand in the watch.  

And the main plate of the dial shows cartoon elements at certain viewing angles.  

This particular model was produced in the amount of 325 watches in the world. On the back cover we can see a custom rotor, but the mechanism is slightly different. It is a Japanese Citizen Miyota 8215 with a power reserve of 42 hours. This mechanism is definitely better finished than the Seiko NH35A, so it is definitely more pleasant to look at.  

They sit perfectly on the wrist. The size is the same as the predecessor. I definitely don't want anything smaller, especially for such bright models. Although I usually wear watches no larger than 40 mm now, unless it's some military Luminox.  

This watch costs 19,070 UAH. And according to the conclusions, everything is the same as I already said. Design, quality, characteristics, limit. Everything is in place and for affordable money.

And what about the conclusions?  

If you think this watch is for kids, you are very wrong. People who grew up on the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon are already over 30. These watches are made for them.  

Because when you're that old, you're ready for a fan, you can afford more than one watch, and this is definitely not the first model in your collection, and you want to get good emotions as a memory from your problem-free childhood.  

Of course, there are situations when a father buys his son such a watch, but a conscious purchase for himself is undoubtedly a grown man's decision.  

The idea is cool, the watches are wonderful, the price-quality ratio is at a very high level.
