Swiss EDOX. What's their special feature?

It's not often that I show you watches from the Swiss brand EDOX. And today is that rare day.
The brand is old, a brand with a name, the brand was founded in 1884 in Switzerland. I will try to introduce you to them more often, and today I suggest you take a look at a few diving models and see for yourself what is so special about them. Maybe there is nothing at all. Let's take a look!

And the first ones we will have are EDOX from the SkyDiver Neptunian diving collection. And what can I say? In my opinion, this is a pure homage to the Rolex DeepSea. And I will in no way say that this is bad. There are people who cannot afford a Rolex, but at the same time do not want to take homage from microbrands.
And here you have Switzerland and an old, well-known brand. Of course, not Rolex, but in the same style and with the same name.

Overall, the model is quite large, heavy, and looks brutal. But in this particular instance, this brutality is somewhat softened by the soft color of the dial. It's like a blue lagoon.
The dial looks quite nice. The color is nice, the applied markers and hands are nicely polished. But I felt like something was missing. It's hard to explain. This watch costs a little less than $2,000 and usually in this price range, it's the dials that are very nice in detail.
It's beautiful here, but somehow rustic in my opinion. The dial is covered by anti-reflective sapphire glass and bright, beautiful Swiss Super Luminova.
On the dial you can see the inscription about the presence of a helium valve. It really is. This thing is for stabilizing the pressure in the watch at great depths. And the water resistance here is 1000 meters, so you can dive, God forbid. I say, a tribute to the Rolex DeepSea in its purest form.
120-turn bezel with a ceramic insert that is difficult to scratch. The bezel is comfortable, the movement is smooth. But there is some micro play. I won't say that it annoys me, but it's clearly not an ideal bezel.
The case finish is a combination of mirror finish and satin finish on the upper part of the lugs. The finish is good, but again, for this price tag, you expect something more cheerful.
Well, okay, but the back cover pleased me with a cool, symbolic engraving of Neptune. That's really nice.
The bracelet, to be honest, didn't impress me either. It's pretty simple. It's a combination of mirror polish and satin finish. There's no play with the case. That's good.
The clasp gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, it's a slightly outdated clasp with a tongue, on the other hand, it looks quite modern, plus there's a diver's extension. Not bad.
This model is equipped with a Sellita SW200 Swiss automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
Remember that I often say in my reviews of microbrands that this is the mechanism that the Swiss use in a budget of $1,500 to $3,000. Here's a vivid example.
The sizes are quite large.
Diameter - 44 mm, from lug to lug - 50 mm, Thickness - 16 mm, Weight - 224 grams.
Honestly, I thought the watch was a little smaller in diameter. And it sits quite well even on a thin hand like mine, 18 cm in circumference.
I tried to think of who could become a competitor among the Swiss at a similar price. And the price for this big guy today is 82,490 UAH. And the first thing that came to my mind was the Epos watch from the Sportive collection. But it also doesn't really fit, because the Epos has a maximum diameter of 41.5 mm, and here it is 44 mm.
So there's not much competition. Maybe you can throw something in?
In any case, this is a good option for Rolex Style watches from Switzerland and with a name.
It will cover the need for such a replacement well, plus if you are looking for a large watch for a large wrist, then also pay attention.
In terms of quality, I didn't see anything special. Solid average. Don't expect anything extra. And of the characteristics, the only thing that impresses is the 1000-meter water resistance.

Edox CO-1 Chronograph 10242 TINRCA BRDR watch
The second Edox model belongs to the CO-1 diving collection. And it looks more individual.
And if the Neptunian has a pure diver's design, then this watch is somewhere in the middle between motorsport and diving style.
The first style is very attracted to the rubber strap and chronograph, and the second is usually water resistant to 300 meters.
I was surprised how a watch with a diameter of 45 mm made of stainless steel could be so comfortable on the wrist. And it turned out that it is titanium with a PVD coating for gold. Let me remind you that titanium is 30% lighter than stainless steel.
And I want to tell you that I am both short and have small hands, but even on me this watch fits great! This is a very rare story, especially with such dimensions.
And our diameter is 45 mm, from lug to lug - 51 mm, Thickness - 15 mm, Weight - 140 grams.
I like the detailing and finishing of the case more than the predecessor. Somehow more individuality and attention to detail. There is also a helium valve for stabilizing pressure. Moreover, it is not baggy, flat, but somehow beautifully made in a crater.
The buttons are all screwed for better tightness. The button sizes are large. Very convenient.
The back cover is engraved with a boat propeller, as a hint at its diving origins.
Ceramic bezel. 120 rotations. High, comfortable, but everything is the same as the predecessor. There is a small backlash, which is not annoying, but for this price I wanted something a little better.
And the price, by the way - 76800 UAH. And this, for a moment, is a quartz watch on a Swiss chronograph Ronda 5030.D. I remember the times when I ordered watches from Invicta for 150 bucks on this mechanism.
But I will explain my attitude to this a little later.
I liked the strap. Nice rubber, convenient "clapper" clasp, which is easily adjusted through the holes in the strap to fit your wrist. I tested it myself, everything is really comfortable and looks solid.
The dial is nice. Dark gray color. Overlaid markers with a golden frame. As are the hands.
I can't say it's exactly WOW, but it has its own style, and it's done without pathos and beautifully.
By the way, there is a Swiss Super Luminova here, but it did not gain energy properly when it was in front of the spotlights and shone very poorly. I am sure that daylight will have a much better effect, but if the spotlights did not gain energy, then the conclusion is - no lumens.
By the way, I forgot to show you the box. EDOX usually has this format. An average but battered box. The only thing I know for sure is that the materials are cheap. I remember that once a new watch was sent in the same box in film and the leather inside was already rubbed.
As I said, this watch costs 76,800 UAH today, and before I would have said: "What a fool they are to charge so much for relatively inexpensive quartz." But now I don't appreciate watches as much as I used to. You can order the watch HERE.
I think mechanical or quartz for a certain price is just a matter of your values and lifestyle. For example, I wear a quartz watch more often now because I don't want to bother with a factory.
And sometimes I look at the same Marathon or Tag Heuer with quartz for quite a lot of money and think: “I like them. It’s convenient.” In any case, it’s expensive quartz, which not everyone can afford. For example, I’m also happy about it.
Because there is a pricing policy of the brand. EDOX cannot be as expensive as Certina quartz, because the brands are at different levels, although, to be honest, I did not see any super quality.
Yes, these are well-made, well-made watches. Yes, they are really big and will definitely cover the need for a large Swiss watch, but in terms of quality, as I said - solid average. In terms of characteristics, only water protection is at a high level. Everything else is also standard today.
Therefore, I will definitely advise those who want an affordable replacement for Rolexes from Switzerland and at an affordable price, I will recommend it to guys with large sizes who are looking for a suitable watch, I will recommend it to those who simply really like the design. The watches do not have enough stars from the sky, but they have definitely found their place under the sun.
