Friends, hello everyone. You are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today, I admit, there will be a watch I was expecting from the microbrand Phoibos from the updated Wave Master collection.
In 2021, I had a choice between Phoibos Voyager and Wave Master from the previous generation.
In the end, I made a choice towards Voyager, although it was not easy. One of the selection criteria was the size of the watch. I really liked the Wave Master, but at 42mm it felt a little big.
When, in 2024, Phoibos announced a reissue of this collection in 39.5 mm cases, and with a bunch of interesting dial colors, I immediately realized that it looked like my collection would be replenished with a new model.
I'll start with the packaging. I notice that Phoibos are increasingly moving towards portable travel cases. I think this is a great trend, since the case is really convenient, practical, and also beautiful.
It's nice to get a watch in something like this. Especially considering their low price. I would like to directly reproach the same Japanese who, both in this and in the higher price segment, offer such shameful boxes that you immediately want to throw in the trash. Especially Citizen, which, by the way, I have quite a warm attitude towards.
Okay, let's get to the clock itself. All 5 dial colors available today arrived at my store.
I will show in detail the watch on one of my favorites - purple, besides, it remains in one copy. And we will look at other colors during the video in a more fluent format.
I'll start with the design. And what has changed compared to the previous generation.
The first version of Wave Master was on a metal bracelet. It has not been produced for a long time, but it was followed by similar watches on rubber straps, which are now also available in my Feeltime online store.
Overall you can see that the cases and dials are similar (except for the colors). Only in the old version the case size is 42 mm, and in the new version it is 39.5 mm.
Plus, the previous version had a diving bezel with 120 clicks, and in the new model it is made for the GMT (second time zone) function with 24 clicks. We'll talk about this later.
I really like the way this model looks. And the first thing that fascinates me personally is its excellent quality.
I know their price tag, I examine the watch, and I understand that offering such quality of finish, such detail in this budget is something unrealistic.
The case looks super expensive. If it were not Phoibos, but some famous brand, it would be an outright scam. Although I am sure that this model will quickly go away for me too.
316l stainless steel case and bracelet. Look at that satin quality. The finishing, again, is gorgeous.
There are mirror polishing transitions at the junction of the side and top surfaces of the case.
The crown is comfortable, with a pleasant engraving of the brand logo - an octopus.
There is also an expensive logo engraving on the back of the watch.
This watch is equipped with a Japanese mechanical self-winding Seiko NH34 with a GMT function - a second time zone, which is controlled by a separate bright orange hour hand on the dial.
And in order to make it convenient to use this function, the bezel was not made for diving, but with 24-hour markings.
The bezel is ceramic and rotates 24 clicks in both directions.
How it works? You can unscrew the crown, pull it 1 click to the right and clockwise adjust the hour hand to the desired time in another time zone.
Or you can leave the arrow alone and simply adjust the value of the bezel to it, rotating it in the desired direction. It's comfortable.
The case is finished perfectly. Doesn't sharpen, doesn't cling.
The bracelet is brutal and complex. Assembled from 5 links in a row. The geometry is great. A very pleasant rustle. I don't feel any backlash. The links are on screws, which is also extremely nice.
The only thing is that the upper edges are a little sharp, but the lower edges are smooth, so I don’t see any disadvantages in this. Everything is pleasant in a coma.
Frankly speaking, I was immediately disappointed when Phoibos made a tongue clasp on this watch, but when I received the watch, I realized that the disappointment had disappeared.
Firstly, they are very small and neat, which perfectly emphasizes the design, and secondly, the casting is so well made that I was really surprised. Everything looks and feels powerful and extremely reliable.
If the bracelet had a quick replacement system, it would not have a price. But I rather want too much.
Let's go by size. The declared diameter is 39.5 mm, from lug to lug I measured 46 mm, thickness - 12 mm, and weight - 176 grams on a full bracelet.
Bracelet width - 18 mm.
On my arm 18 cm. The girth fits perfectly. On this note, I propose to show you all the options in order, and you can write in the comments which option you liked best.
Let's look at the dial.
Of course it plays a huge role in the feel of this watch. The colors that Phoibos suggested are really attractive and attract attention.
One of my favorites is the wonderful purple to black gradient around the edge. Purple itself is a fairly rare color in watches. And I like that they didn’t make it tacky here. It turned out quite harmoniously.
A pleasant wave texture runs across the entire surface of the dial and seems to hint that this is a diver’s watch, because its water resistance is indeed 200 meters. The head screws down so you can dive.
I really like the applied watch markers, which create wonderful volume and give the watch an even more expensive appearance.
The hands are well polished, and the lacquered second time zone hand stands out.
Beneath it is a barely noticeable 24-hour scale at the very edge of the dial. So whatever suits you. You can navigate by it, or you can use the bezel. Still, the markings on the bezel also play a role in the external feel of the watch, as it greatly influences the design.
The date on the watch was carefully placed instead of the 6 o'clock mark. She doesn't distract me at all.
And of course, let's look at 15 layers of proprietary Swiss Super Luminova.
The dial is covered with sapphire with 3 layers of anti-reflection, which works perfectly.
Well friends. The price today is only 15,400 UAH.
We bend our fingers. Chic design, chic size (for me at least), chic quality of finishing and detailing, the most interesting and beautiful dials, excellent characteristics. Oh yes, the packaging didn’t disappoint either.
And this is not some kind of hoax, but a completely independent watch that, given the list of all these advantages, you really want to buy.
And you know what, when you hold this watch in your hands, you really understand that no Japanese or Swiss watches in this budget (with rare exceptions) will attract me. Because the well-known ones at this price tag will not offer anything like that.
So it's up to you to decide, you run for the brand, or you can really enjoy a lamp product that is produced in small batches, but with soul and attention to detail.
