TOP American Microbrand NTH
NTH Scorpene and Nacken watches
Friends, hello everyone, you are on the channel about feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we continue the series of reviews of the American microbrand NTH.
I sit and think: “Selling such watches in Ukraine is a thankless task.” People have come to associate the concept of “microbrands” with something affordable. And this is greatly influenced by many Chinese microbrands that have occupied the Aliexpress market.
And then comes a microbrand whose prices range from $700 to $900.
Those who are used to buying cheap console themselves with exclamations: “This watch is no different from San Martin.”
Those who can afford it say: “Why should I pay so much money for a microbrand if I can already take Switzerland?”
Both are right. But I will definitely tell you who the NTH microbrand and others like it are aimed at at the end of this video.
I have 2 models for review. One with the name "Scorpene", the other "Nacken". Such cold, Norwegian names. Just like the design of the watch itself.
As I have shown more than once, each NTH model comes in an individually designed box. That is, the watch that will be inside is drawn on the box.
The watch itself is housed in a convenient and compact travel case. There are also additional links that the brand carefully puts in the packaging, although the default bracelet has a decent supply.
Let's start with the NTH Scorpene model.
Looking at the watch, I understand that NTH have found their forms and are simply playing with them.
For example, the same Barracuda that I showed in the first review have the same cases, bracelets, clasps and dimensions.
But as soon as the NTH brand changed the dial and bezel, the watch looks radically different.
The case itself and the bracelet are made of 316l stainless steel. I already said that the quality of finishing is impeccable for this price. The highest quality satin finish, the contours of the case are very nicely highlighted with mirror polishing.
The finish is pleasing not only on the visible parts, but also on those hidden from view. This includes the finishing of the watch back cover and the internal parts of the bracelet links.
This is something that either inexpensive microbrands or famous Swiss or Japanese usually neglect.
I have more than once highlighted the convenience of the crown and bezel in this model, which is completely coated with a unique DLC coating, which is equivalent in strength to diamond.
Bezel Very confident. And I can highlight the sound of the bezel of each NTH model as really expensive and solid.
The model is equipped with a Japanese Citizen Miyota 90s5 movement. I was recently enlightened that it does not use a date disc.
That is, as inexpensive microbrands usually do. They take the Miyota 9015 mechanism, and if they don’t want to display the date on the dial, they don’t, but the date disk itself remains under the dial.
Here the brand seems to be doing the right thing. Initially, it takes the same mechanism, but with a version without a date.
This model also boasts professional water resistance of 300 meters. At the same time, the NTH brand independently checks each watch for leaks.
It goes without saying that the glass is sapphire with anti-reflection and the infernal Swiss Super Luminova, which we will check out later.
The dial is deep, black. The most detailed markings are both on the dial itself and on the bezel.
Brightly highlighted Arabic markers at 3,6,9 and 12 o'clock. Frankly speaking, the markings are very vintage and emphasize the style of diver watches from the 70-80s of the last century.
In previous reviews I have already said that I do not like this type of fastener, but here NTH adjusted it so perfectly that there are no questions at all. Comfortable, the tongue opens and closes smoothly. No comments.
Dimensions: Case diameter - 40 mm, from lug to lug - 48 mm, Thickness - 11.5 mm, weight - 151 grams.
Let's look at the differences between the NTH Nacken model.
The dimensions themselves, the quality of the case and bracelet are the same here. Therefore, I will not focus on these points.
But the bezel, glass and dial are very different.
Anodized aluminum bezel. Those who are accustomed to thinking that the quality of a bezel is determined only by the presence of ceramics will be deeply mistaken.
In this case, NTH does not skimp on ceramics, but makes sure that the appearance of the watch retains its vintage style. That is why the bezel is anodized, which will prevent oxidation and such a bezel will be more resistant to mechanical stress.
Although, frankly speaking, it will be extremely difficult for you to hit the bezel with such a thick sapphire!
The water resistance of the watch is also 300 meters, but the same Citizen Miyota 9015 with a date disc is installed on board.
Oh yes, and I forgot to remind you that NTH independently calibrate each of its mechanisms, so instead of the stated basic error of 20-40 seconds per day, it reaches 10-15 seconds per day!
Let's look at the dial.
It has a signature, grainy texture. The applied markers and arrows are made perfectly.
On the one hand, it all looks simple, on the other hand, it is made really flawlessly.
And of course lume.
According to the results.
Today, each model in my Feeltime online store has a price of 30,400 UAH, which is equivalent to $800.
So who is this watch for?
Let's start with the bottom gradation. There are a lot of cheap and excellent quality Chinese microbrands for your money on the same Aliexpress.
They may look similar, but they certainly won’t be 3 times worse, since the difference in quality is not commensurate with the difference in price. You pay a big difference not from going from "bad" to "good", but from going from "good" to "ideal". And it’s expensive to get something perfect, which is why the final product is expensive.
And NTH are made perfectly for their money.
If we talk about the upper gradation, then there are a lot of Swiss watches or Japanese whose watches you can buy for the same money.
You can, but it will just be “fine.” The Swiss just don't have to stretch for "perfect" in this budget. This difference is leveled by a well-known brand.
Looking at this watch, I understand that I, for example, would not take some microbrands from Ali after it. There's simply no value there for me.
That is, those who have money will most likely choose NTH.
Popular brands remain. I’m trying to remember who makes something similar in this style, and I can remotely compare these models with the most popular Certina divers, which are about 25% more expensive and worse made (these are not empty words, I kept those watches in hands).
In general, the same nackens remind me very much of Tudor. But the difference in price between them is generally cosmic, so this NTH model can generally be a cool alternative.
In general, the nth microbrand is praised everywhere and in the world people themselves managed to create a good reputation for it and make these watches desirable.
They have soul, each model undergoes a thorough, individual inspection, and they do not sit on large conveyor lines. The owner of the brand, Chris Weil, produces watches in small quantities, but makes sure that the quality does not suffer.
Therefore, the watch is for those who are not chasing popularity and the mass market and want to get something special.
And you will definitely receive it.
And you can buy each of these models in my Feeltime online store with an official 2-year warranty.
Write your feedback and opinion in the comments, and I’ll conclude. Until next time. Bye
