This is how a clock should be made. AVI-8 Spitfire AV-4073-44

Hello everyone, you are on the channel about Feeltime watches. With you, as always, Stanislav, and today we will consider pilot's watches from the AVI-8 microbrand.

Earlier, I already reviewed the same watch in black AVI-8 Spitfire Midnight Chrome AV-4073-33, told in detail about the history of the watch and about the Spitfire aircraft, to which this model is dedicated.

Let me just remind you that the AVI-8 brand is owned by the same company that owns Spinnaker. But if the latter went into the creation of vintage, diver's watches, then AVI-8 completely occupied the niche of pilot's watches.  

The AVI-8 Spitfire Type 300 Automatic GUNMETAL GRAY AV-4073-44 watch is made of 316l stainless steel, but has a matte finish, so it might look like titanium at first glance. In any case, a pleasant heaviness in the form of 160 grams immediately betrays that it is stainless steel.  

The case is in the best traditions of pilot's watches. Large, with a comfortable and massive crown. Note that wings are engraved on the sides of the head to create the visual effect of an airplane.  

And if you look at the back cover, here you can see a full-fledged rotor in the form of a Spitfire fighter.  

The body is mostly satin. There are mirror polish transitions between the side and top surfaces. The quality of the finish for this price is 5+.  

The welt harmoniously transitions into a slightly domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.  

The size of the watch is 42 mm in diameter, 50 mm from ear to ear, 13.6 mm thick, the width of the bracelet at the case is 22 mm, narrows to 18 mm towards the clasp

On my wrist 18 cm. In the girth, the watch sits perfectly.

As for the bracelet itself, it has a beautiful geometry and excellent quality finishes.  

Clasp with double fixation. Cast inside, stamped outside.  

The watch comes with a genuine leather strap. I can’t say that it has premium quality, but it’s made quite soundly, and even for this price you can say “Gift horse…”.  

The dial is large and easy to read. Stylistically under the dashboard of the aircraft.  

The middle part of the dial is slightly seated in depth, which creates a pleasant volume. The main second hand is also implemented here in a small dial. Looks very harmonious.  

The extreme part of the dial with massive Arabic marks with an interval of 10 minutes.

Please note that the values of the inner and outer dial alternate. Namely hours and minutes.

For example, 8 hours are indicated on the outer side, and 40 minutes on the inner side.  

And of course, let's see the bright Swiss Super Luminova.  

Of the unnamed characteristics, only the water resistance of 50 meters was not announced, which is a classic for pilot's watches and the Japanese movement from Citizen - Miyota 8215.  

The mechanism is morally a bit outdated. It does not have a stop second, but with the help of it, the company was able to interestingly position the second hand in a small dial.  

What will I say at the end?

The price for today is 14500 UAH.  

Given the quality and package you get with this watch, it's super competitive.  

I will not prove anything here. In order to understand this - you just need to take this watch and see what the same Japanese offer for the same budget. You don't have to be a watch connoisseur to tell the difference.
