Friends, hello everyone. You are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we will consider a unique Ukrainian limited edition, which was released in a limited edition of 50 watches in the world and was developed jointly with the AVI-8 brand and my Feeltime store.
How it all began
The idea came up in June 2022. Just in the middle of a war. By the way, the initiator was not me, but the brand itself. Yeah, I didn't get the idea right away. Moreover, I did not like the first sketches of the model at all. Everything sparkled with “yellow-black”, but I rather have a negative attitude towards all this symbolism. Especially when she is full of fashion.
In general, at the end of that year, I decided: “Why not?”. But with the amendment that something needs to be done with the original colors and some details of the watch.
I minimized the Ukrainian symbols, so that it was clear that this was a Ukrainian limited edition, but so that it would not be a collective farm. We made a beautiful logo of the coat of arms of the aviation of Ukraine and placed it in the form of an engraving on the back of the watch.
If you are not already aware, then the AVI-8 brand itself belongs to the same owner as Spinnaker. AVI-8 specializes specifically in the creation of aviation watches, so we decided to follow this particular theme. Hours in honor of aviation of Ukraine.
I received a batch of 50 watches in June 2023. The process of creation, manufacture, delivery is not the fastest event.
Well, what we did - I will show in detail today in the article.
Equipment
In the review, I will have the 1st model from the release. She's not for sale. At least for now.
The watch comes in a large gift box. A very nice box, unobtrusively stitched in the colors of the flag of Ukraine. Closes with two rivets.
Inside, we immediately see a watch, an additional textile strap, studs and a tool for replacing it, a card with a limited model number and detailed instructions.
About the watch itself
The watch itself is based on the AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane. Here, the canons of pilot's watches are absolutely strictly observed.
A laconic, round shape of the case, a large and well-read dial with large markings, a tachometer scale, which is a frequent element of watches in this style.
The body is made of 316l stainless steel. Fully satin finish, except for the pushers and head, which are mirror polished. The quality of the finish is excellent.
Welt harmoniously passes into mineral, lenticular glass.
On the back cover of the watch there is an engraving of the coat of arms of aviation of Ukraine. Some characteristics are also written out here and there is a serial number of the watch. In our case, the first of fifty.
Watch sizes
Diameter - 42 mm, thickness - 11 mm, weight - 90 grams
On my small hand 18 cm. In the girth, the watch sits well. But the ears are long, the more massive the wrist is, the better.
The case is paired with a genuine leather strap. The case is unobtrusively stitched with threads in the color of the flag of Ukraine. In general, the quality of the belt is very good.
Bonus
An additional textile strap is made of high quality. Good fittings. Rigidity I would say - medium.
Clock face
White color with black markings give good contrast and readability. Initially, there were too many Ukrainian symbols, but I asked to leave only the identification mark of the Ukrainian military aviation in the 60-minute chronograph counter, make a neat date frame in the color of the Ukrainian flag and sign the Ukrainian Edition under it.
As for me, it turned out not intrusive and without a collective farm. This is the case when from a distance it is not clear what this watch is about, but if you look at it, the essence becomes clear.
In general, the dial is well made.
According to the characteristics , we have a quartz, Japanese movement from the Seiko company, water resistance is 50 meters, which is a classic for this kind of style, and the Swiss Super Luminova on the hands.
Results
The price for today is 15000 UAH.
What do we have for this price? A unique watch in a small number of releases, with its own clear and understandable theme.
They are well made, they have a great package. My task was to make a really good watch with a concise placement of symbols. And, it seems to me, we coped with the task.
