Hello friends, you are on the channel about Feeltime watches, Stanislav is with you as always, and today we will consider real, pilot's watches in the initial luxury segment from the Longines brand from the Spirit collection.
If you follow the channel, then remember that not so long ago I reviewed the complex Longines Spirit chronograph and left the model under the most pleasant emotions, despite its large size, which is not suitable for my hand.
The novelty comes without a chronograph and is already in a 40 mm case that is more acceptable to me personally. But there are also larger versions with a diameter of 42 mm. In search of information about the watch, I found that there is also a version with a case diameter of 37 mm, but as it turned out, this watch is not available in Ukraine today.
And to be honest, it’s a pity to some extent, since even a 40 mm watch on my hand feels too big for me. Although purely visually, the ears do not stick out, and if approached purely mathematically, then everything fits well.
But personally I would like a smaller size.
The feeling of a large watch is primarily due to the long 49mm lugs. And you can see for yourself how decently the ears go beyond the circumference of the welt.
Therefore, more often it is much more important to look not at the diameter of the watch itself, but at the distance from ear to ear.
The thickness of the watch is quite pleasant. Only 12.2 mm. Weight - 150 grams.
Of course, you will never confuse the design of Longines Spirit with anything else. The unique shape of the case and the original dial will help you identify the model.
And to be honest, I understand that Longines in this regard are great fellows. Models from the most popular collections of the brand such as "Conquest" or "Master Collection" can always be easily identified from a distance.
That is, the brand has not just a big name for which you pay, but also its own, pronounced face, which is very important today in the world of watches, when the choice is simply huge.
Of course, first of all, these are pilot's watches in the best traditions of style. Actually, this style is conveyed by a large body with a large and comfortable head, which will be convenient for the pilot to rotate even with gloves on.
And of course a large and well-read dial.
And the dial of this model is magic in its purest form.
Very gentle silvery color of the main surface with a granular texture. Chic overhead, Arabic hour markers, an applied wings logo with an hourglass in the upper part of the dial, and 5 stars, which in Longines watches speak of the highest precision of the mechanism, are in the lower part of the dial.
The detailed minute scale rises slightly above the main plate and, together with the hour markers, creates a pleasant volume.
The second hand is one-third covered with a bright, red color, which gives it the right accent.
But what, on the contrary, without an accent is the date instead of the 3 o'clock mark. I did not even immediately notice it, which is very good, since the date should not be distracting and violate the integrity of the dial.
Plus, of course, the Swiss Super Luminova on the hands and hour markers is simply royal.
I also held a version with a black dial in my hands, but for me personally it feels simpler. Silver still plays with completely different colors. But this, of course, is not for everybody.
When I examined the Longines Spirit with a chronograph, I immediately noticed the amazing quality of the finish and the special texture of the satin finish.
In this model, all the same branded satin finish. Plus there is a strip of mirror polish at the junctions of the side and top surfaces and on the welt. Such transitions create more volume, and, as a result, a more expensive appearance of the watch.
The bracelet is also of excellent quality, but not without flaws. The geometry is almost perfect, only on the links near the body on the underside it breaks a little.
By the way, this is about the fact that even expensive Swiss watches have their own nuances.
In all other respects, it is again excellent quality of finish, plus jewelery bevels on each link with a mirror polish, which again gives the right volume.
I also liked the fully molded flapper clasp with Longines branding. Very comfortable and perfectly emphasizes the design of the bracelet.
The back cover is secured with 6 screws and has a concise engraving of the brand. Here you can also see a quick system for changing the bracelet by pressing the buttons.
True, maybe I somehow didn’t get the hang of it, but I never managed to remove the bracelet. I press the button, but the bracelet just doesn’t come out, I was afraid to pull hard.
Here I want to note that this model should come with 2 premium genuine leather straps, but, unfortunately, in my case, I got an unpacked version from the store.
Almost all watches from this line come with additional straps.
Some models initially come with a strap, but in the kit, on the contrary, there is also a bracelet. This is of course very nice.
Here we come to the mechanism. The in-house movement with caliber L888.4 is installed on board the watch. This is a COSC certified chronometer that has a huge power reserve of 72 hours, runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour and has a silicon, anti-magnetic spring.
As practice and customer reviews show, Longines mechanisms are very good and accurate. Usually the accuracy is higher than the passport.
And of course, special attention to the domed sapphire crystal with multilayer anti-glare on each side. The anti-glare works great. Readability is good at any viewing angle and in any light.
Pleasantly pleased with the water protection. 100 meters for a carnal clock is excellent. Plus, the head is screwed down for better tightness.

This is the price of a 40 mm watch with a full set of straps. Without belts it is cheaper, with a case diameter of 42 mm - more expensive.
It should be understood that for this money you are buying a brand that needs no introduction. It is very important that these watches have a very recognizable design and a distinct style. After all, you always pay for it.
Expensive detailing of the dial, chic quality finishes, reliable, manufactory movement. All this cannot be cheap either.
This model feels expensive, and even people who do not understand watches at all have talked about this. For in order to understand the taste in food, it is not necessary to be a chef.
If you like this style, then in front of you in the future is a cult watch that is absolutely worth the money.
